my favorite was Dale Earnhardt!! The Intimadator!! (don't know if thats spelled right but you know what i'm talking about?! lol) ....he was awesome!! there's no one else out there whos driving even compares...but whats yewr guys thoughts??

200 wins, 7 time Daytona 500 champ, 7 time series champion, more poles and awards than anyone else - there is only one King Richard Petty. I am an Earnhardt Sr fan, but compared to Richard, Dale is a clown. Winning the Daytona 500 seven times is absolutely incredible, not to mention the amazing list of other accomplishments and awards.

I think that you might be forgetting the King - Richard Petty. I was an Earnhardt fan and he was a great driver but Petty is the icon of Nascar. He won 200 races during his career and was he first driver to really bring sponsors to he sport. Petty has class as well and is the true King of Nascar.

Richard Petty.....no one else even comes close.
He was driving in the days when the cars were much closer to stock, and there were real differences in body style, engines, suspensions, etc. These days every race is like an IROC, the cars are the same shape, same engine displacement, suspensions, it's really somewhat boring to watch, unless you're actually at the track in Atlanta, Talledega, or Daytona.

It's hard to say dale sr. when jeff gordon beat most of his records in 15 years compared to dale sr.'s 21 year carrer so i would'nt say dale sr. as best driver. Dale sr. was a good driver though. But Jeff Gordon is'nt the best all time driver ethier that would have to be richard petty no one will beat that.

That a hard question to answer because their been great driver every era Nascar been thought. The list could be a mile long if you start looking at what every driver has done during his driving days. You could start in 1949 with Lee Petty,Red Bryon and go to 2007 with Jeff gordon, Jimmie Johnson,Tony Stewart and so on.
