It could be an abscess (most likely) or a parasite, or a foreign body, or a foxtail, or a lesion from an allergic reaction, or a bite wound, or a BB wound, or a benign tumor, or cancer. All these possibilities are serious things.
The only way to know for sure, and to get the correct treatment, is to take the cat to a vet.

Where is it on the neck? Could it be from the flea collar, like an irritation? Could it be scratching from fleas, or maybe ringworm. I haven't heard any problems from Frontline , it is really a good product. If it is a female and she is outdoors, a male could have tried to get to know her. Im just guessing here...

Its worth getting it checked out at a vet. It could be a lot of things from a tumor to an infected cyst that needs to be lanced and treated with antibiotics. Good luck to you and Kitty.

I'll tell you what it is - It's something a vet should look at and that non-vet strangers can not diagnose for you.

It could be a cyst, tumour, or a fatty build-up. Ask your vet. He will know.
