I like cherry's. So when I food shop I always buy them. The market that I shop at on a regular basis had them for 2.49 per pound. That was the regular price. I go food shopping the following week and they are on sale for 1.99 per pound but the regular price is listed as 5.99 per pound. Dont get me wrong I know 1.99 per pound is better then 2.49 per pound. Anyhow, I go back the following week and the sale is off and they are back to 2.49 per pound. Its almost like they raise the price just to make the sale price more appealing. I also noticed this when cases of water go on sale. Regular price is like 3.99. They put them on sale for 2 for 8.49. Your not saving anything. Your paying more. But people snatch them up. Am I the only person that pays attention to prices from week to week?

pebblespro- That is completely beside the point. Its not just bottled water and cherries that they do this with.

Damn...I HATE those stupid cards! They are everywhere! Why is it I have to carry a stupid card to buy food?? When Winn Dixie started this 'bait-and-switch' bonus card crap years ago I was furious. I even called the home office and asked if the cashiers had a generic card at the register so I wouldn't have to sign-up. Well HELL no -- seems that all these places really want your personal information on file so they can track everything you buy. So...I filled out the form using a made-up name (Mr. Disgruntled Customer), a made-up address and a fake zip code (90210) and a made-up phone number. The damn manager found me in the store minutes after I was issued a card and wanted to know why I was so angry. Big mistake. I was in the perfect mood to tell her that I was too smart to fall for the bait and switch, smoke & mirrors schemes. I also predicted that the thousands of 'bonus card' prices that were all over the store would slowly decrease and be replaced by items that were moving slow, generic brands or items that were nearing expriation dates. Damn, I must be psychic because it ALL came true in less than four months.
OK -- I'm done with my rant.

Because I eat a lot of chicken I've noticed when they have a buy one package get one free week, the boneless chicken will be $4.99 a pound. When it's not on sale, its 3.29 a pound. You get one free, but your paying almost 2.00 a pound more.

I have never noticed this before. Thanks for bringing this up. I'm going to pay better attention to this from now on. I could be wrong, but I think this is a type of fraud. Shame on them!
