If no, then why do some of my fellow Christians get all angry when people state that the Bible is riddled with mistakes and inaccuracies. As it wasn't GOD who actually wrote the thing, don't you think it's fair to say that it's extremely contradictory and has many politically incorrect things within it?

1. no, unless the mentally ill person was trying to kill people, or the woman throws a rock at me first. :)
2. I've found that many of the contradictions can be explained with further study, or by looking at the original, literal meaning of the passage.
3. Sure, some of it's politically incorrect. The whole gay people thing, the whole saving yourself for marriage thing and the "I am the way, the truth and the life only through me" passage. But I don't really mind if it's politically correct if it's true. So I question whether or not there is evidence to back it up, not whether the view will be popular or not. There is always a way to express your views tactfully when asked without blathering on or telling people they are going to hell, etc.
4. Most people focus on the bad things, instead of the way Jesus treated women, children, and other races and preached love, acceptance, and forgiveness. He revolutionized some bad ways and made women equals in God's eyes. He served others and Proverbs is chock full of wisdom. I think the good and PC outweighs the bad, especially considering the society the Bible was written in.

Not at all. You are not understanding the Bible. You have to ask who, what, why, where and when. Which will help you to see that there are no contradictions.

People who followed the Laws of Moses were told by God, to stone those who had broken certain laws. We are not told that. The Israelites of the Old Testament were expected to follow the laws. However we are under the New Testament's freedom in Christ and grace.

The Bible is God's written Word to us.
It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.

“Above all you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:20-21. (New International Version)

Breakdown of the Bible
36 human authors inspired entirely by God over 1600 years.
66 separate books

39 Old Testament
Genesis- The creation of the world, sin, flood and birth of Israel
Exodus to Esther- History of the nation of Israel
Job to Proverbs- the books of poetry and wisdom
Isaiah to Malachi- Prophecy or foretelling of the future events to come.

27 New Testament
Matthew to John - Four Gospels representing the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ now with all authority in Heaven and earth.
Acts- Birth of the Church (The Bride of Christ)
Romans to Jude - Letters to the Churches
Revelations - The ultimate future plans for: The Church, Heaven, Hell, a New Heaven and a New Earth.

I'm sorry but I live in the USA and it is illegal to stone someone although we do separate the mentally ill from society and we do it with the blessings of society and the law. If you live in Iraq I think I think you can still get away with the stoning women for adultery. Be it noted that stoning could be the lesser of two evils in that country. And be really careful about stealing a loaf of bread.

Being PC is a modernized ideal which makes everyone feel equal.

Truth is no one is equal and people will talk and argue about differences until kingdom come. Political correctness is such a sham, as if not talking about something will make it go away...really not solving the problem.

There are people trying to censor you by saying you have to be politically correct. I for one am not letting someone control me, if you want to follow blindly after a political sham...go on, but I'm going to say what I need to say using the proper and traditional words.

For example:

Politically Correct:
An American born black person is called "African-American." (that's the PC term)

Proper: He is American first and foremost, his skin color shouldn't matter. He's not African, his skin color shouldn't define who he is, and not everyone in Africa is black.

The mentally ill are separated today. And I've seen news accounts where some people are killed for adulteress affairs. Sin has it's consequences. There are no inconsistencies in the Bible. You may not like what it says but that doesn't mean it's inaccurate.

since when is the Bible PC? I hate that term. Of course the Bible contains things in it that are unpleasant and not exactly acceptable by today's politcal climate. the culture was different back then. Please cite all of these inconsistancies I keep hearing about. No one can ever come up with anything that hold any water.

The bible was written by many people, and by whom? That's why I don't understand why so many Christians take the book so literally.

Don't you think that women deserve stoning for adultery, whereas men deserve praise. Many christians certainly believe so.
