One of the nice things about a christian suggesting you've taken a verse out of context is it will prompt other christians to read the chapter :-))

Not only will they discover it was not taken out of context, but they will also learn just how monstrous was the deed that inspired the verse.

Atheists, are you glad you know the bible?

What's more funny is that christians who say that verses are taken out of context, themselves take verses out of context.

For example, how many times have christians quoted, "John 3:16".

But it's clearly out of context because they never mention the verse in which Jesus curses all the non-christians for eternal torment.

So hypocrisy of christians exposed, yet again.

I'm so sorry, I don't fear the atheist. I don't care if you do or don't read your bible. I am glad if you had the opportunity to know Jesus Christ, if you have rejected Him, I am extra sorry for you. But we Christians are not here on earth to badger the thesis: If you are a Christian out there, stop doing that.
God has asked/commanded we should try to explain the bible and introduce all men to the plan of salvation. We begin to turn people off when we do it in a "holier-than-thou" way, you can NOT force any one to accept Christ.
Just pity them, and hope some day they will ask you again to explain, and pray with/for them.

There are quire some right here, yet regrettably the main lively listed under are the greater fundamentalist who experience it incredibly is their duty to transform the heathen atheist. notwithstanding they gain in simple terms driving them further faraway from God does not give up them because of the fact they experience as though they have carried out their duty to unfold the Gospel. it incredibly is unlucky that notwithstanding they declare to have confidence each be conscious of the Bible, they do no longer have confidence the Bible while it says something which they do no longer have confidence. Like while Christ referred to as the literalists of His day a "brood of vipers" because of the fact by their clinging to the letter of the regulation they disregarded its message, and hence made it greater durable for human beings to mindset God. Please undergo in concepts whether that mutually as they signify approximately 24% of the yank inhabitants, worldwide-extensive they're in simple terms 10% of the Christian inhabitants and don't signify Christianity as an entire.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

Hope you're ready for a whippin'....
Oh, and I like atheists...they prove there is a God. Because if there were NO God, there would also be no ATHEISTS.

Good point. There is actually a verse in the Bible that kind of addresses your point...Proverbs 27:17 "Iron Sharpens Iron" (paraphrase)

I also know by reading through lots of answers that some "christians" tend to be very reactionary to questions or comments made by professing atheists.

Jesus actually engaged in thought provoking debate with Jews in the form of parables, and the Apostle Peter encourages Chrisitians to "be ready to give an answer for the hope..." I Peter 3:15.

Having said that, you know that there are many times that people, including "Christians" take verses out of context to "prove" their point, which is a tragedy, really.

I appreciate that which challenges my thinking and belief system as it causes me to analyze and prove to myself what I profess to believe.

I feel obligated to know it, because how can I discuss the subject if I don't know it? How could I defend myself against those who try to use it to condemn me, if I'm not able to point out (1) Where they're wrong and pulling things out of context, and (2) The things that THEY do that go against the Bible, and therefore expose them as the hypocrites they are.
