If you wear glasses all the time, you eyes will get used to it and it will be difficult for you to see if you lose, or break them. Besides they WON'T stop further progression of shortsightedness.
On the other hand, if you are not wearing your glasses, it is most important that you don't strain when looking at distant objects. Straining is very common for undercorrected myops and myops that don't wear glasses and it WILL make your eyesight worse.
If you are not considering some form of laser eye surgery, there are eye exerices for treating shortsightedness. For more information visit here:

Healthy diet is also very helpful, so you may also consider these supplements:

Hope this helps!

Only if you're happier that way.
There are a few rare cases where adults should be told to (or not to) wear their glasses constantly, but in the vast majority of cases, apart from things which come with a legal requirement such as driving, it's a matter of free choice.
If an adult wants to walk round even in a complete blur, it's not for me to tell them they are doing something wrong. They are not damaging their eyes.
With children, where the eyes are developing, it's a different case. Both ways.
Short sighted people who regularly do not use their glasses for close work will show a slightly earlier onset of presbyopia (need for adifferent prescription for near) in their 40's. I've not met one who didn't want to wear their glasses for reading who was prepared to religiously in order to offset this!

Yes, wear them all the time. The more you go without glasses, the more strain you will be putting on your eyes, and the higher possibility of a need for an increase in prescription strength. If you are self conscious about wearing glasses in public, consider getting contacts.

hi
if u are having a priscription for spects and if the optometrist, ophthalmologist or the optician has told u or advised u to wear it continously, u MUST wear it continously.
u have options, if u cant wear spects continously then u should go for conact lenses. but not wearing priscribed power results in straining eyes for seeing distant objects and that can lead to serious vision related problem in future if u continue like that.
imagine now ur vision is 100% and u r priscribed for a normal spectacle power, if u ignore it and dont wear it, ur spectacle power may or may not increase but ur vision
(ability to see objects from a certain distance like a normal eye) decreases gradually day by day. believe me i have seen cases like that as i am an optometrist.
so take my advice and start using ur glasses/contacts regularly also
1 get an eye check up every year regularly to maintain ur vision
2 eat healthy food full of nutrients and vitamin A, which is available in carrots, green veggies, milk, fishes etc
3 do regular exercises like yoga(prayanama, sarwangasana etc)
any more advices u need u can contact me on kothari_jay55@yahoo.com

I would say yes, you should. I recently had to make the same decision, and since I've began wearing my glasses all the time I've been amazed at how much clearer things are, and how many less headaches I have. I think it's a good idea...

ive had glasses since 1st grade, and i went through a period where i didn't want to wear them, but now I can't imagine not having them. i feel so handicapped if i dont wear them all the time. find a really cute pair, and you'll find you dont want to take them off!

Find a cute pair you really like so you won't mind having them on all the time or have you considered contacts?

No do not wear them all the time they make the eyes lazy you can do eye exercises to strengthen your eyes.
I started doing the excercises yrs ago and i am also shortsighted but my prescription has changed very little.
Check with your opthamologist for the best type of excercises for you, not an optician...
