thinks their the most righteous person on earth for handing these starving people bibles instead on what they actually need, food, water and vaccinations.

HOW can i respect a person who goes to africa a tells them its a sin to wear condoms! In a place where AIDs could potentially wipe out an entire contenent of people they tell them not to use condoms!

Mr.A

first of all, im 17 years old. forgive me, i don't exactly have revolutionizing amounts of money or resources.

second of all, while yes, i havent done anything it's true, i also havent preached to them about god gave them bibles and felt i was righteous and just, im not PRETENDING like have accomplished anything.

thirdly, If there is religious organization that does in fact give food, ect. thats great! but im not talking about them.

fourthly. you still haven't addressed the fact that missionaries go over there and tell them not to use condoms, if any doubt this is true, you'll have to look into in because i dont have anything handy.

This may be harsh to say but: What has more meaning the effectiveness of the action, or the true motivation for doing so. In this case most would disagree with me but there are flaws in both, some people would argue in their beliefs, it is an absolute certaintanty they're are helping. Good intentions... misplaced agendas, and they can so..

Sympaphy is entirely subjective. I feel sympaphy for good people trying to help and failing. is that normal?

I agree and disagree.
Nobody should be going into Africa and telling them not to wear condoms. However, I have never heard of a group who does that...
I think that spreading the word of God is a good thing, it gives them hope and strength while dealing with some terrible conditions. I haven't heard of too many missionaries who hand out Bibles and leave though. I feel that you may be misinformed about how the missionaries are helping. They help in SO many other ways - food, helping to build adequate shelter, bringing in needed living supplies, medical supplies, some are medical professionals who provide free healthcare to those who need it, etc. I think you are missing a lot of what really goes on during these missions.

You have a distorted view of missions. There might be some who do nothing but hand out bibles, but I've never seen one personally.
As for condoms, abstinence works even better in stopping the spread of AIDS. Maybe if we stopped teaching people that we're just another animal who can't control our instincts and that morals are just a matter of personal opinion, but rather that sexual intercourse should be reserved for marriage and partaking of it before then robs those who do so of a special relationship that they should share only with their spouse. Guess which set of values I was brought up with, and yet managed to remain abstinent for 30 years, despite all the pronouncements by some people about how impossible it is to expect young people to do so?

Hi Bronze Nose All. God is no respecter of people that includes me and it includes you. We know this is true because He tells us so in Acts 10:34:

"Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:"

While I agree with you that it is terrible that so many people in third world countries are starving and dying of AIDs, it does not glorify God to set up food lines and hand out condoms and say 'there's nothing wrong with having out of wedlock sex, just make sure your protected'

Sexual immorality is what is causing AIDs in third world countries where have no fear of God or His Judgment. God tells us in Acts 10:35:

"But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him."

We have problems in our country too, but by far the main reason Christ came was to bear the sins of those who would believe on Him, not to put food in our mouths or keep us from getting sick.
God wants us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Are you giving people food in Africa?

If not, then you have no room to complain.

I work with a mission in Haiti who holds a Vacation Bible School for a week and feeds 600+ children two meals a day for that week...more than they would normally eat in a month or so.

I know people who go to Africa to do surgery on people for FREE.

What are you doing? Nothing? Then shut it.

Didn't you know that all the people in these countries need is prayer and God in their lives? That would take care of everything.
