Legally, you are required to leave before the expiration of the visa and if you wish to stay longer, then you are required to get an extension, however, if you do overstay there is no possibility whatever of your getting a fine. CBSA/Immigration does not ever do that.

If you overstay your visa will Immigration search for you? Many people do this, perhaps because they get sick or a relative is sick or injured and they stay with them for a while longer than expected.

Unless you do something criminal then the answer is No.
Will you be jailed and then deported? Again, unless you do something illegal that brings you to their attention, No.

If you overstay without an extension, and leave at a later date there is only one small area that might, and I stress might, be a concern if you need another visa to return to Canada:

If your home country stamps your passport on return, and if the visa officer looks at that and compares it with the first visa timing, they might speak to you about it and ask if you intended overstaying again, or if you wanted a longer time allowed on the visa. They will likely overlook or ignore an overstay of a few weeks.

Other than that, as long as you leave Canada within a few weeks there is nothing to worry about.

This is how many illegal immigrants come to Canada and stay; if caught you will face deportation and possibly detention for a brief period.

What are they gonna do? Kick you out of Canada?
