Hello,
I got a 'fix it' ticket 26708 vc for having a tinted front side windows after a year of driving around with it in Santa Clara, CA. I bought this accord, used from a Honda dealer in LA and I told the officer that the dealer should have let me know about it...
The cost of removal is about 40$ and the fine after that would be 10$
- Can I call the dealer and ask them for an explanation, try to get them pay it?
- There is a bail forfeiture of 120$ that I could pay and not remove the tint(which I will probably go for), but what happens if I am pulled over again for this?
Thanks!

Even if you pay the ticket, without removing or lightening the tint, you can still be cited. Additionally, you may be cited for failing to comply. Check with the dealer, although they will probably not help out. If they installed the tint, it would be a different matter in which they could be charged by the police as well. My advice would be remove the tint so you could stop worrying every time you see a police officer you might get stopped.
Side note- why is it costing $40 to remove the tint? You should be able to remove it yourself by peeling it, scraping it, or heating it with a hair dryer and yanking it off. Unless it is built into the window (very rare, between two panes of glass), it should be easily removed and saves you $$$. Look into it.

The law that prohibits front side tinted windows is for the safety of police officers, so they can see into the vehicle and know that you're not pointing a gun at them. The dealer should perhaps have told you but there's that old adage "Ignorance of the law is no excuse." The bail forfeiture of $120 does not let you out of removing the tint, it only keeps you from appearing in court or having to take your car to have it verified that the tinting has been removed. I reckon that if you do get pulled over again that the same charge repeated would likely have a doubled fine.
And if you leave it on, it just invites your being pulled over again, and who wants that? Are you always otherwise 100% perfectly legal where you don't care if you are stopped? I'd take it off and biatch about it for a while.

Here's the deal. You can pay that $120 and not remove the tint. But that doesn't give you a license to drive with tinted windows. If another officer, or the same one stops you. They can write another ticket.
As for the dealership, you drive the car, you need to know the laws. The last owner of that car might have been an albino with a medical reason for the tint. You drove the car with tinted windows, thats on you. If you call the dealer and make a big enough stink, they may pay you. Or they may not, it's really up to them. You could attempt to sue, but the filing fees would be worth more then they would pay you.

There is a legal limit to how much tint a window can have. The dealer will ignore you most likely and if you get popped again it's the same ticket again. In a situation where there's an accident, especially if it's a pedestrian, you could be found guilty of negligence for operating with improper equipment.

There's no law against selling a car with front tinted windows. There is a law against driving a car with front tinted windows. You're busted. Get the tint off or risk another ticket.

It's your job to know the laws on it if you have tinted windows. Why is it the dealer's job to tell you the laws?
I don't know what happens with your last option - sorry....
