The term "Chosen People" does not mean racially superior, choseness does imply a special uniqueness.
Historically, it goes back to Abraham. Abraham lived in a world steeped in idolatry, which he concluded was contradicted by the reality of design in nature.
So Abraham came to a belief in God, and took upon himself the mission of teaching others of the monotheistic ideal. Abraham was even willing to suffer persecution for his beliefs. After years of enormous effort, dedication and a willingness to accept the responsibility to be God's representative in this world, God chose Abraham and his descendants to be the teachers of this monotheistic message.
In other words it is not so much that God chose the Jews; it is more accurate that the Jews (through Abraham) chose God.

well, there are two answers to that question:
there are as many #1's as there are groups of people who claim to be that position.
if there is an absolute list, with a #1, a #2....etc... why would you care? you will never know where your group places on that hypothetical list. do you really think that there is some sort of celestial scoreboard?

"Chosen" does not necessarily equate to "#1" . The Jews were chosen to be the keepers of God's law and the messengers of the news about the Messiah. Other than that, as it talks about in the early chapters of Ezekiel and other places in scripture, Gentiles are sweeter.

It's all crap. Of course every group is going to claim this. There are all stupid...yes, I realize what I am saying...
Mainly because God chose EVERYONE. If he didn't; he wouldn't have made us. People decided to put themselves into different classes.

To consider your group "the chosen ones" is one small step away from the dehumanization of others, and atrocities Will follow.

All of humankind are God's chosen people. It is religion, not God that attempts to separate one from another.
