Some cats just like variety. Our cats were eating regular food, but when our latest addition came, they began eating her food. Now they all like to eat it. Just be careful about how much you are feeing them. They can gain weight very quickly if they are not active. Also, on rare occasions, males can get urinary tract infections from the high protein and fat content in the kitten formulas.
Good luck!

There is very little difference between kitten food and adult food. Kittens and adults need the exact same things - but kittens need more of it as they're growing. It won't harm a kitten to eat adult food, so long as it gets enough of it. And it won't harm an adult to eat kitten food - except that it tends to be higher in calories and so may contribute even more to weight gain.

kitten food has more fat in it - which can be bad if your cat is on the chubby side....
kittens need more fat for proper brain development.
if your cat is thin and under 2 yrs of age - it will be ok.. but if your cat is older or on the bigger side - the kitten food will be very bad for your Adult cat..
(for this reason its always best to get 2 cats of similar age)
you will need to put down dry Adult food and seperate the kitten to give it kitten food several times a day...
(if the kitten is under 6 months it is VERY important it only have kitten food - of over 6 months and not skinny adult food is ok)

It probably won't hurt him to eat a little of the kitten food. But keep in mind that kitten chow is higher in calories and some nutrients than adult food. So you may want to find a way to feed your kitten separately from the adult cat.
Good luck!

No it's not healthy. Kittens need more nutrients and vitamins than a grown cat. If your grown cat eats kitten food it will cause weight gain and possibly diabetes, so check with your vet. They will answer your question over the phone and it won't cost you anything. If you don't have a regular vet. you can call any of them in the phone book and they will be glad to help you.

It does not make much of a difference what food your cat eats.
Are the two food bowls in the same room? Maybe he got confused one day and then liked the taste better.
I would try to get him back to his food again, but as long as the kitten is getting enough food, your cats will be fine.
But try your best to get him back to his usual food.
Next time your cat is eating kitten food, pick him up and move him in front of the other bowl.
Separate the bowls and punish your cat when he eats the wrong food.
Good luck!

Kitten food has a higher fat content for the growing kitty. Ity's fine for an adult cat to eat just be prepared for a possible pudgy cat.
The kitten only has to be on kitten food for her/his first year. After that both cats can be on regular adult cat food.

It might make him gain some weight. But temporarily it's probably ok. It's definitely better than the kitten eating adult food.

It won't hurt him, the kitten food has more fat in it. You might make your cat gain more weight. You might have to free feed your cats the moist food. You don't want your adult cat to get fat. That is a suggestion.

In the short term, its okay. However kitten chow is much higher in protein and fat (and calories) to support growth and development and your adult cat will gain too much weight if he eats it over a long period.
