All sports can be a religion to man. I know, I am the first man (Adam).

Personally, as the first man, I prefer baseball.

However, if basketball is a religon, it revolves around those with money. In some strange way, money, therefore refered to as "the devil", come together to create something mankind can enjoy. Something pure, a spot like basketball with marketball, "the devil", a player making millions of dollars...

Well - I will say: Yes.
The players are disciples. The concept is to win by being good, and using a team mentality. Individuals that can not share (or actually cheat on and off the court) are instantly shown to be lacking a key ingredients in being a good well rounded human being.
Which goes into being a good players show the youth - the discipline both mental and physical to be a NBA player, and the stars usually have earned their status by the respect of their peers.
The FANS - know a false disciple from a true disciple and the owner that doesn't figure this out losses often. The sins of owners and players that look for quick titles usually get their reward, by sitting and watching the teams that have done the hard work to earn their way into the title games.
Everyone prays when at the foul line.
The good players thank GOD after a loss or a win.

I would say yes, but of your questions I only know the National Basket Ball Association.

If it is a religion, it is pantheistic in nature, you have too many players to worship.

Their is no god but god, and Michael Jordan is his profit?
