For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4

2 Timothy 4:1-8
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

The Holy Spirit leads us into all Truth if we have him in us. Our Father in Heaven knows all his children. Amen. We don't have to worry about those who mislead. God will seperate the wheat & the chaff soon. I have been in churches that have preachers mislead the people but God was and still is, in my heart.

Once you recognize a false teacher, preacher, prophet or evangelist, then you pray and ask God whether He would like for you to leave that church or group ministry. Why? Because you can get caught up in misleading people if you are weak in faith or lacking growth/wisdom in the Lord. God will not allow his children to be confused but those that do not belong to him are cunning and have an agenda. They will flirt and even pervert God's Truth to meet their agenda. Remember what satan offered to our Lord Jesus Christ; He used scripture to tempt Jesus. If he was willing to try this on our Lord, he is very capable of using false teachers to promote a falsehood, lifestyle of Churchianity. There are many signs and confirmation of many churches practising "traditions of men," instead of following the will of God. You can know them by their fruits and when they lack the Love of God, which is our main focus when we preach/teach the Word of God; they neither can care about the poor & needy, the Fatherles & the widows. Money, power and evil desires are the fruits of a false teacher/preacher etc.. When you hear a teacher/preacher speaking on things that stray from the Gospel and puts more emphasis on themselves or there own lives or their building funds, then that is a pretty good indication they are not interested in saving souls. When they ask for your money and call it a tithe then that is a very good indication they are not pursuing the Truth. Remember, "Jesus fulfilled all righteousness!" We give from the heart and as the Lord places that in your heart. Remember the thief on the cross;Jesus did not require him to pay tithes to enter paradise with him. No instead Jesus said to the dying & ex-thief or repentant thief, "I tell you the Truth, today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43)

The Truth is in the scripture but without Salvation in Jesus or the Holy Spirit's guidiance, you could never understand sound doctrine. The Truth is layed out for us precept upon precept so we can prove and set about to test everything against God's Truth in Love.

In Christ,

I think it has been happening all along. It doesn't surprise me that the bible would say something like this and make it sound like a prediction. The main purpose of the bible is to control followers, so if it didn't discredit other experiences it wouldn't really be doing it's job. What saddens me is that so many have taken the "fables" of the bible as fact and used them to limit their experience thereby stunting their own spiritual growth.

Just Revelations full filling and we as Christians have known this for quit some time. I have felt an urgency to pray that God will open eyes and ears to His truth and His ways; because of all the moral corruption in our world, churches and politics. God has cast out a third of the angels upon earth and they are working overtime don't you think to kill, steal and destroy!

This happens both today and it happened not long after it was written. The scary thing is it is written not in regards to the heathens out there, but Paul is talking to Timothy regarding churches...

Even in yahoo questions and answers, most people like to pick the answers they want to listen to--not really think about the true one.

Oh yes , it started a few years ago, big time. PPL for the most part dont want to hear truth, they want to hear grace will cover them no matter what they do. Many churches are afraid of losing ppl, so they preach what the ppl want to hear, instead of the truths they need to hear.
Jesus is coming soon and this will all stop. Those that arent following Jesus and living like Jesus, preaching like Jesus, loving like JEsus, will be lost. So run to Jesus today if you arent fully GOds, as we hve to be fully Gods to be saved. It doesnt matter what I say or you say,its only what God says that matters, and we better know that or we cant even do as He commands us to do. It iwill get worse till Jesus comes, but God will protect His true children, those that will hear and obey. and not just want their ears tickled.

Yes, unfortunately it didn't take long before it started in the church. That's where sound doctrine used to be. Now? You have to be careful. But God will always provide a way to truth.

Absolutely! Look at the false prophet leaders of the anti-gay, pro-bigotry groups. In their unquenchable thirst for money, they have found a great scare tactic and way to make people send money--homosexuality. They pick and choose from Scripture, while denying that they pick and choose, and all the time criticizing their adversaries for picking and choosing. "Homosexualty is destroying America," they proclaim, while poverty, homelessness, and inner city violence increases. In most surveys, Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction. Let's blame gay people! We can get money and deflect the argument from the real problems! Adultery (which should result in stoning according to Scripture), greed, children disobeying their parents, gluttony, and sexual immorality among heterosexual youth are paid lip service to, but it all takes a back seat to condemning homosexuality. Nearly half of heterosexual marriages end in divorce, but that's not important, as long as we don't let gay people marry.

Homophobia is a sin. Using religious beliefs to deny rights to other citizens is not "love," it's a sin. It's sinful, because it is in direct violation of Christ's commandment to treat others as we want to be treated. Not allowing gay people to marry is not treating gay people as you want to be treated, period, no matter how you try to justify it. To minimize this is to minimize Christ, because He listed it as a commandment of the utmost importance and value and He never said it didn't apply to treatment of gay people.

Rationalizing and defending and justifying homophobia only shows that these false prophets have fooled themselves and their followers. Those who try to hold onto this sin and refuse to give it up are allowing their pride to control their lives. "You will know them by their fruits," Christ told us. "Bad fruit cannot come from a good tree," Christ assured us. Homophobia harms gay people; it does not bring gay people to Christ. Therefore, it is bad fruit and it cannot come from a good tree.

Yes, absolutely , I had to leave a church ,because they had a false prophet preaching all kinds of things in there, that was not of God ,and the people were cheering him on.
I cannot allow my spirit to take just anything in.
