I like AVG
it's free
it updates every day
and you can set it to scan every day at whatever time you want
I have never had a problem with viruses on my PC
get it from download.com or

That depends on who you ask. To help in your selection, it would help to know if you are willing to spend money to buy one or not. There are plenty of good free antivirus program so you don't have to buy one. If you want to spend money, the 3 programs which consistently score the best are: Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky. All have their pro's and con's; some are stronger in some areas but weaker in others. All of 3 cost about the same - Kaspersky might be a tad more expensive. I should warn you that all 3 programs use up a great deal of computer resources and you might notice your computer works slower. Read PC World Magazine's article "Virus Stoppers" for some a comprehensive review. (http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,129883/article.html)

If you want to save some cash, the 3 most popular free programs are Avast, Antivir and AVG. Again, all 3 have their pro's and cons. You can find all 3 programs at http://www.filehippo.com/software/antivirus/.

I myself like Panda Titanium Anti virus. Norton is decent, but most of the big companies like mcfee and such use so much memory while it is running and when its not. Norton is NOT the best anti virus. Its simple to use, and has a nice GUI but is horrible on memory usage. Not to mention they dont update as often as others do, and neither are the updates as big.

Avast is free & can be found easily on any search engine.
It is a professional version, with the premise of if they offer it free to home computer users, it will cut down on ALL transmissions of viruses for everyone.
They charge for the professional version though.

if you would like to purchase software than Norton or McFee will work best for you. If you want free software than look for Spybot Search&Destroy 1.4 at download.com or AVG 7.5 free edition

Norton is better than AVG. Period dot. However, since I will not pay Norton what they want for their software, I use and will vote for AVG.
