Am I the only bride out there that doesn't feel the urge to slap my monogram on everything that can possibly associated with my wedding? I'm excited for my new last name and everything but at the same time I'm not an idiot...I know what it is, so do my guests.

I would much rather not personalize them and resell it after the wedding and buy great things for our house or something.

I agree. When people slap their monogram on everything, I'm reminded of dogs marking trees and bushes. :-) Good idea re. resale value on unused items after the wedding.

I'm not a bride, but I totally agree that the urge to personalize, monogram, memorialize, whatev, is overdone at weddings. It's good to be economical about it, too, and think about what really matters: the marriage, not just the wedding.

Personally I am not a monogram type person either, but some people are. I think its a matter of tase and if you don't want to personalize everything then that is fine. That is what they make gift receipts for!!
Beside if you registered you should get a lot of the stuff you want, and then you can take duplicates back and get more stuff you want!

Oh, I haven't seen that at a wedding, but what else would couples be putting the monogram on? I think it's fine if they are keeping the cake serving set, and get those engraved, or toasting glasses. We didn't have either, so that wasn't an issue. I don't mind getting a wine glass or shot glass as a favour with their names and wedding date on it - it's a nice souvenir, and we use them at times, too.
For our wedding, we had our names on matches and napkins, and on slips with a little thank you attached to our favours. I for the life of me can't think where else someone would want to put their names, or monograms....

Resell what? Monograms are new thing, they didn't do them that much when I got married in 1993. I definitely see your point. I like a few personalized things, but like you said, you don't need to slap it on everything.

I HAD that urge to personalize everything! LOL! But now I am having second thoughts. But I am glad to have the stuff for ME personalized. Like the cake server set (I like the idea of having that) or our set of toasting glasses.

I only have a favor from ONE wedding that I have been to. It's some sort of crystal glass of some sort. And the only personalizing they did was in the form of a tag attached to it. NOTHING on the glass itself.

Haha, I definitely agree...the only things we're having monogrammed are our toasting glasses, the cake knife, and our BM's and GM's gifts...which won't have our monogram on them. My cousin's wedding was rediculous...EVERYTHING was monogrammed...the napkins, table decorations, the little candies and mints on the tables, heck, even the cake had their initials on it....it was actually quite amusing.
