i have a bite on my chest with a black dot in the middle and my dad seems to think its a spider bite is it true?? i live in south florida

Make sure the "black dot" is not a still-embedded tick.
Ticks (such as those that transmit Lyme disease) can be as small as the period at the end of this sentence.

I've never seen one form a black dot on it. Usually they are red, and if you use a magnifiying glass on some of them, you can actually see the fang marks. Of all the spiders in the U.S., only the black widow spider bite is painfull exatly at the time of the bite, all others take a while for the toxin to go to work. I'm no expert on Spiders in Florida, I've seen the results of bitse from brown recluse and Hobo spider bites, and Have been bitten myself by a black widow. None of which had a black spot form. Watch the site, if it swells, becomes bright red that spreads outward, or starts to ucler,I'd have it checked right away.

Might be, they are usually pretty small and two tiny dots, could be a tick? Black widows aren't as bad as people think, but watch out for brown recluse spiders, their bite can rot away your skin and can be very serious (fiddle back). Other then that, spiders don't like people and eat little bugs, so they are useful creatures to have around. Daddy long legs have a venom too, but they can't bite people.

who cares what did it- are you going to go on a witch hunt and interrogate the spider? wash the area with mild soap and apply hydrogen peroxide with a q-tip-if in 2 days you have any adverse reactions like swelling or wheezing or red skin see a nurse or doctor.
