Fall 2008 will mark 3 years my husband and I have been married. We got married in 2005 and due to Hurricane Katrina had to settle for a justice of the peace type ceremony. Since our anniversary date is set on a Saturday of 2008 I thought it'll be special to through an anniversary party for ourselves since neither of our families could attend the actual ceremony.

My question is, does anyone have any ideas as to how it should be? for instance, we don't want to have a big wedding or anything but was thinking of just having a nice reception party OR my husband was thinking of having a bbq. We're just pretty much confused and need help.

You can have whatever kind of party you want. That's the beauty of the anniversary party. It can be anything from black tie to bbq. Heck if it was me it would be a black tie BBQ and there would definitely be a gown involved. Of course I would buy a wedding gown once a year if I could afford it, so maybe I'm not a good example. Do what makes both of you happy. I vote for black tie bbq.

I think having an anniversary party is a great idea. Now whether you want to rent a hall, have a DJ etc. Or have a more casual get together at home, that is really up to you.

In my opinion I think you should have a big party with a DJ, and you can celebrate your 3 year dance (instead of a first dance.)

But if you don't want all the fuss, a nice BBQ party at home would be nice too. (You could even get a DJ for that!) Just as long as you have fun!

Good luck!

When you get down to the bare bones of it all a reception is a party...everybody knows what they like at a party. Plan that way and you'll do just fine honey.

I think a backyard get together would be abosultely perfect if you are a laid back couple. There is no rule on how "it should be". Perhaps you can have a semi-casual reception. Get the hall like you dreamed and serve BBQ like he wants to get the casual atmosphere you both want. You are already married so I'm sure you've learned it's all about compromise.

An old adage states that good things come in threes, so even though a third-wedding anniversary isn't usually considered a milestone, it should be celebrated as an achievement. Offering a gift of encouragement or throwing a party in honor of the wedding couple are ideal ways to announce not just how good things come in threes, but your hopes that the good continues for many years to come.

So do a reception party with a BBQ style menu. Grilled chicken and pasta salad and fruit trays are nice cheap and easy way to feed guests barbecue and keep it easy on the pocket. I LOVE evening ceremonies and receptions but keep in mind you need to make sure you provide bug protection. I would take citronella candles in aluminum buckets and decorate around them. Lots of fairy lights/clear christmas lights are perfect and CHEAP!

i'm thinking back to what I did around 12 for Birthday events... 365 days we did a "modeling" subject the place all of us have been given dressed up in distinctive outfits or outfits with our makeup and hair completed and have been given our pictures taken, or yet another became non everlasting tattoos or henna. yet another subject I did for my seventeenth became a Hawaiian Luau social gathering, theres loads of stuff at social gathering city for that subject, another issues you need to do is base a social gathering around your widespread action picture. Like Grease or grimy Dancing or regardless of. you need to play trivialities video games based on the action picture for prizes or regardless of. Goodluck collectively with your social gathering!
