I know this question is in religion but take that out the equation you don't need to follow a religion in my view to believe in god.

Why does there need to be an answer. Is the answer so badly needed that people have created their own stories just to end the question.

The question of who/what created us should be a thought that many ponder on, but it is simply a repeat of history to say wow, I've found the answers...I mean did the greeks not think that they were right too, or any civilization of the past before christianity.

Someday years from now won't people study history or be taught in class about the year 2007 and the USA and how popular Christianity was. It is likely that then in the future they'll have there own religion also claiming to be right and all others wrong, right?

For me it's no more than Mysticism. Because we do not have a definitive answer to the origins of the Universe, am I to automatically assume that a "higer power" did it? Am I to read a book and believe without a doubt that this "higher power" was the orator? No. I question it. I was scorned by the congregation for doing so when I was 15 and have been departed from the church ever since. They didn't answer my questions to my satisfaction then and I highly doubt that one can be given to me now. The ONLY way I would ever believe that GOD indeed exists, is if it comes down. Now some of you will be offended by my reference to GOD as "it", but what is it? It certainly can't be human. I'll accept that GOD could very well be an alien of some sort, that's plausible. As far as creating every mote of dust in the Universe, I don't think so.

And hey writer, you're one funny dude man.....awesome.

I'm looking around me and all I'M seeing is the inside of a room in my house. By your rationale, I bought God piece by piece and built Him, calling Him a computer. I also spent an entire night building God into a computer desk. I had some installers roll and stretch God over my floor at one point, too--and here I was, ignorantly calling Him "carpet." I'm going to be spreading God on the walls of another room of my house soon--but I thought I was going to paint.

Tomorrow, however, I really need to mow the God with the Godmower that I picked up at God's hardware. After I use my spare Godcan to get some God to put into my Godmower's Godtank.

you are literally begging the question. What do you mean how can people not believe in god. My question will be how can you believe in god or anyone for that matter who displays the characteristics of your god and his name has been behind most of the world's attrocities without any proof ir evidence of his existence? How can anyone believe in god because of the trees and the flowers etc? How does that equate to a god of the bible or koran or judaism? It's like you are desperately trying to grasp for proof by hanging on to things we can see and know to explain something that honestly is a figment of man's imaginations.

I dont see y its so hard to not believe in the big bang. Or evolution. Personal I think its fine if u believe in a god but the current gods we created always preach samething and end having their followers manipulate their words into hate.

On Earth there at least 3,000 known beliefs in different deities. They can't all be right, and it might be possible that all of them are wrong. Human beings are taught to believe in the existence of a deity, but if they were taught the opposite that is what they would probably believe that too. One thing that I have always found disturbing, however, is human beings justifying horrific acts in the name of what they believe is "their god" - its sad, and is probably the epitome of human arrogance, because it is, in essence, telling God what to do.

I believe in Santa Claus.
Presents appear under my Christmas tree every year. The milk I leave out gets drunk, and the cookies eaten. A visit from Santa is a good explanation for these observed phenomena.

Lately, though, I've started thinking that there might be another explanation... and that "Santa visitation" might not even be the best explanation.

Because there is no definite proof.
"God is everywhere"
He is my Coke can sitting next to me??
He is the chair I am sitting on??
I don't think so. . .
I'm not trying to be mean, just trying to make a point.
He is a made-up figure for people to look up to.
I see no point in believing in something not there.
=/
And, if he is so great, why is the world the way it is??
Horrible?
Why does he let, or make people for that matter, suffer??
If he is so almighty, why did he flood the earth?
Why has he done all of the things he has and why is he doing all of the things he is doing (or stopping)??
Maybe because he isn't really there.
People pray and pray for him to make their lives better, for him to make the world a better, but nothing happens.
