I graduated college 2 years early and never sent announcements. I am now moving to Las Vegas to finish my last two years of college and would like to send out announcements.

How do I send out the announcement without looking like I am just trying to get money for the move?

Call them change of address cards. I'm sure somebody makes some all ready to fill out, perhaps Hallmark, but a simple postcard with the info on it would work, and be inexpensive. And people know not to sends gifts for this.
Keep the format simple: Hi! Just to let you know I'm moving! New Address: 34567 Slot Machine Avenue, Las Vegas...Love, Sue Richards.
You could go into more detail if you wish, mention the move is because of a change in colleges.
Or this: Sue Richards will have a new address, moving date is August 18th. And give your new address.
Or: Change of address, effective August 18th: Sue Richards
2334456 Slot Machine Avenue, Las...

I've never really heard of anyone sending out announcements for moving away to college.

Never heard of sending announcements saying that you're going to college. So....what are people supposed to do for you?? Give you a pat on the back maybe?

I never heard of anyone doing this. Just send a mass email telling people your new address and phone number.

maybe you should throw yourself a combo party: grad/going away party and invite people over the phone or in person (if possible)
