Tammy Faye probably came in contact and affected more people than we will ever know.

She did not harbor hate towards those who persecuted her. She witness with her heart and soul. She kept the faith till the end, unwavering in believing in the promises of God. She lived with joy, regardless of her circumstances. No matter what others thought of her, God knows her heart and mind.

Rest in the everlasting arms now Tammy.

She and Jim were pioneers in televangelism, which has done incalculable damage to Christianity. The idea of a person becoming a Christian via the television set epitomizes modern evangelical theology, which throws away the sacraments and replaces them with salvation by mental exercise.

Tamara "Tammy" Faye Messner (born March 7, 1942 - July 20, 2007) was an American Christian singer, evangelist, entrepreneur, author, talk show host, and television personality. She was the former wife of televangelist, and later convicted felon, Jim Bakker, and she co-hosted with him on The PTL Club from 1976 to 1987. She was known for her tendency to wear heavy makeup, particularly mascara and false eyelashes. More recently, she was well-known for her appearance as a participant in the 2004 season of the highly rated reality show, The Surreal Life[1]. In May 2007, it was revealed that she was under hospice care for inoperable lung cancer. She died on the morning of July 20, 2007 of her inoperable lung cancer at the age of 65.

I am sorry to hear that.

no matter what you may have thought of Tammy Faye- she was a child of God- she was forgiven for all that stuff with PTL- and besides even if she was not a Christian, she does not deserve the hurtful comments here. May she rest in the arms of the one who saved her!!!!

Dude,

I went on Youtube to find a funny clip from her heyday, and instead found this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWtMgBKOHuw It's the Larry King interview with her from this week. It's quite disturbing how close to death she was.

i remember seeing her on talk shows and interviews before she became really ill. she had the sweetest mousy voice...very distinctive and memorable. she also seemed to laugh and smile a lot more than the average person. i'm sure she touched many hearts with her sweet nature and infectious personality.

let's be decent human beings and show the woman some reverence and respect. do you want to be mocked after your death?

I'm really sad for her family, but she is finally at peace now and her suffering is over. It would be nice if people on here could show a little class, and have at least a shred of respect and compassion for a fellow human being, whether you liked her or not.

May she rest in peace. While I was not a follower of her, I do know that she was loved by many...& I hope her passing will be filled with mercy & kind memories.

A woman of strength and courage! After everything she battled through from beginning to end. I would hate to walk a mile in her shoes.
