There are so many meds for depression today, you just haven't found the right one. As a fellow sufferer, I can tell you that it's worth your time to see your doctor, tell him/her EVERYTHING, so he can decide which med to try. When you find the right one, your life will change. You won't just be going through the motions anymore. You owe it to yourself and those who love you to keep searching. I myself think that Klonopin is a miracle drug. Good luck, sweetie. You'll be in my prayers tonight. :)

Make an appointment to see your psychiatrist; you are not coping effectively right now and need help. What are you taking for your GAD; maybe your taking to much and that is why you feel down. Hope you get out of this rut. I was feeling depressed the other day after a long day at work and as I crossed the street to get to my car I seen a man in his early 20's limping frantically to reach the other side of the street. He had one leg shorter than the other. After seeing this I realized I am blessed to be healthy and be able to run, jump and feel no pain. I guess what I am trying to say is if you think you have it bad, there are way more people out there that are worse of and making the best of it.

You talk about dealing with all of these issues and using medications but you don't' say anything about talking with a therapist. I know that it can take a while to get a handle on depression, and you may find you self trying different medications until you find one that really works for you long term. You should find a psychologist or psychiatrist who deal with chronic depression that's what it sounds like you have.
I know that it's hard but don't give up I've dealt with it for a long time also by now things are getting better because I have found a therapist that I get along with and medications that work for me. But it took a while for that to happen. Some times you have to look for a good therapist just as you do with a GP. If you don't' agree with what the therapist is doing than find one who believes that therapy is a team effort and who will treat you like you're on the team and not like You don't know yourself. Some doctors act like you don't know anything even though it's your life and your body. Don't let the therapist treat you like that. Find one that treats you like a partner and who treats you like you have something at stake in what happens in treatment.

I feel that medication is prescribed far too often.

Let's assume that the professionals know something about prescribing a lot of them.

You may want to talk to a neuro-therapist or a cognitive-therapist. They work with depressed patients and the therapy usually only takes 3 or 4 sessions.

It's just plain frustrating to have mental & emotional problems. You're right. Maybe, as a last-ditch thing, try volunteer work. Sometimes it helps to work with people who can't even do the things you take for granted.
