Nobody's gonna become a Christian because of the music. I know some non-Christians who enjoy some Christian music and perhaps it gets them thinking a bit, but a song isn't gonna convert someone. And I don't think that was ever the intention of Christian music.

Most people don't like Christian rock cuz they aren't Christian and don't really like or care what the people are singing about. The music is just instruments, the only thing that makes a song Christian are the lyrics. And guess what, people who don't understand about Jesus and Christianity probably aren't going to appreciate those lyrics. Common sense really.

That's how I felt at first. It just sound weird to hear screaming guitars and drums, but the guy is singing about Jesus. I thought it was a little strange when I first heard it. Out of all music genres I listen to (which is most of them) my all time favorite band is a Christian band called Third Day. Their music is comparable to many secular rock bands and lyrics are beautiful, and the lead singers vocals blow every other singer I've ever heard outta the water.

I don't know if there is a case of someone becoming a Christian based solely on the music... however I can say that it's a lot more likely than someone becoming a Christian because of all the legalistic rules some so-called "Christians" put on music... even though there is nothing Biblically to back it up.

I guarantee you, the catchy music brings more potentiality into the mix. Sitting there thumbing your nose at music for being too "worldly" only drives them out the door in multitudes.

You might want to try to improve your attitude. That would be a big step in positive P.R. for Christianity.

Just as the old hymns are dear to the older Christians, the new music attracts younger people. Remember the old hymns were once new also.
The same can be said for secular music.

I bet. Why do people have a problem with christian rock...prolly cuz they're referring Third Day, Casting Crowns, etc..those types...to christian rock. that's not rock. Demon Hunter, Skillet, Pillar, Flyleaf, etc...do they suck? No. there are a lot of awesome christian ROCK/hardcore bands out there.

no one comes to the Lord because of the music- they come to the Lord because the Lord chose to use the lyrics of the song to draw him/her to Him. Music is a tool to worship and leading people to Him- it is the Holy Spirit that does the leading!!
