I think any calls later than 8:30 would be rude

If you call at their dinner time and they point it out to you, apologize and ask that they can call you back later.

Hey pumpkin, it largely depends on why you are calling and of course who. Most people who get a call at 5:00 or 6:00am will expect some scary news. 7:00am is more reasonable for almost any encounter. If you must call someone at those hours always open the conversation with an apology and make your point quickly giving the person the opportunity to call you back if they wish. If you are able to successfully complete the conversation... You should call back at a more reasonable hour to confirm that the message was truly comprehended.

I think calls should wait till 7. 5 or 6 is usually dinner time.

I call at 5 but not after that since they may be dining. I think after 9 in the morning is a good time.

I don't think it's rude at all. We eat at 5 p.m. sometimes, but 8 p.m. other days.
If it's really someone you know ( and you are not a telemarketer, haha) most people don't care, I don't think. They have the choice of letting the machine take it and not answering.

you don't mention if you mean am or pm. 5, 6, or 7 PM is fine. AM would be insufferable, unless it were an urgent emergency (ie a death in the family or a fire in their house)

Never after 9pm....unless you are a teenager who has no concept of time and you really need to talk to one of your friends because a) the world is coming to an end, or b) you had a very bad hair day and you have to share that with your friend or c) you realise Harry Potter is gay and you MUST tell someone

That's often the best time to call. After 10 o'clock is inconsiderate.

when you are talking to that person ask what time is ok for you to call them at as you do not wish to interrupt their dinner hour. as a rule for my house no calls after 10 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends.
