Take a parenting class...they are awesome. Do as much reading as you can. As far as the formula, it is on the back of the cans. If you are not able to take any classes just ask the nurses at the hospital any questions you have, that is what the are there to do.

No, they don't show you how to prepare formula. It is written on the can. I have 2 kids and noone had to "teach" or "show" me how to take care of them. I read a few parenting books during pregnancy and took a really simple parenting class, but the rest of it, like recognizing hunger cues, schedules, etc come in time. I think it's partly instict. Try to find a parenting class or get some books. A really good one for first time parents is from the "Everything"series. It's called "The Everything Baby's First Year Book". It is a really laid back, calming book. I swore by it with my son because i was a single mom with no help at all. It was a real lifesaver for situations like your baby's first bout with diarrhea, teething, bathing. Tons of stuff.

Yes, if you insist. But the instructions for mixing formula is all on the side of the tin anyway, just follow them and you will be fine.

Or you could always breastfeed, it's premixed to the perfect consistency and always at the right temperature. Much better for your baby and you too.

It clearly states how many scoops per ounce of water on the side of the formula can. You can ask the nurses to educate you on this, but they'll just tell you the same thing. Its usually one scoop per two ounces of water.

Enroll in some parenting classes. They'll teach you alot!
