I like this guy and i don't know if he likes me, but he is so nice to me but mean to my friends. What do I do if he asks me out?

If its up to your friends you will remain miserable and dependent on them. It is entirely possible that your friends are jerks to your guys as well.

Do you want to go out with him? If you want to go out with him, then go. Maybe he doesn't like your friends, and that's ok. I didn't like some of my husbands friends, and he didn't like some of mine, but you can compromise on almost every thing.

Playful mean or what? Do your friends say things to him behind your back? there's reasoning for a g/f or b/f to do that.
