Wasn't some of the bible proven to be inaccurate? If so, can you give me some examples and reasons why? I am just curious. I'm not trying to start an argument, so no harsh/nasty comments please...

The Bible has lot of contradictions I am going to quote and describe only 5 of them.

1)According to the Bible, Book of Genesis,

chapter 1, verses 11-13,

Vegetation was created on the third day along with seed-bearing grasses, plants and trees; and further on as per verses 14-19, the sun was created on the fourth day. How is it scientifically possible for the vegetation to have appeared without the presence of the sun, as it has been stated in the Bible?

It also says light is created on the first day where as the source of light 'The Sun' is created on the fourth day. How is this scientifically possible?

2)According to Bible Fowl has four legs.

Lev 11:20-21: "All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you." Fowl do not go upon all four. There has not been any fossils of winged creatures found that has four legs. So therefore, it is not very accurate in describing Zoology.

3) Measurement problem in the Bible according to
Kings 7:23 "He made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about." Circumference = Pi() x Diameter, which means the line would have to have been over 31 cubits. In order for this to be rounding, it would have had to overstate the amount to ensure that the line did "compass it round about." According to the Bible the value of Pi is 3 which is incorrect.

4) The Bible suggests the Earth is flat according to Matt 4:8: " Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them." Unless the world is flat, altitude simply will not help you see all the kingdoms of the earth

5)According to Bible King James Version Job 9:6 it says the earth is placed on pillars. It says

"Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble."

Does not seem very scientific.

Saphire4 actually provided some of the best answers, but none of them are *good* answers

Vegetation before sun - this seems unlikely in view of scientific theory, but realize that science only has theory to refute this. This cannot be proven inaccurate. It is not impossible that some other light source induced plant growth prior to the ignition of the sun.

Sun made on fourth day - again, science only has theory to refute this, for the same reason as the last item.

Fowl has four legs - Saphire4 is simply mis-interpreting 400-year-old English. Modern translations use "flying insects" or "flying things". Reading further would make this clear:

Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;

Notice that Saphire4 says "There has not been any fossils of winged creatures found that has four legs." There are, of course, winged lizards. I cannot say for certain that fossils like these living animals have not been found, and I suspect Saphire4 is not making this claim knowledgeably.

Pi=3 is incorrect - actually, that is incorrect. pi=3 is *inaccurate*. *All* numeric values of pi, including 3.1 used by Saphire4, are inaccurate. *If* the "great sea" was 30 cubits in circumference (for arguments sake, I'll use Saphire4's assumption that the sea was cylindrical), then the diameter is roughly 9.55 cubits - which *does* round up to ten. Saphire4 was also incorrect that rounding could not have been applied to the numbers. Of course, there is no reason to believe that it was cylindrical *anyway*. It may very well have been bowl-shaped, and thus exactly 10 cubits in diameter at the top and exactly 30 cubits in circumference at its base, just below the lip, or somewhere in between. This does not prove the bible inaccurate.

Earth flat - notice Saphire4 uses the word "suggests". The devil took him to a high place, but the bible does not say that the devil could only show him all the kingdoms of the earth only from a high place. I can see all the kingdoms of the earth from the comfort of my own room. No high place required. This does not prove the bible wrong, it only implies that the devil has supernatural powers or some mighty advanced technology. (Maybe he has satellite TV)

Earth on pillars - Saphire4 here is intentionally misreading the verse. I'll use his quote

"Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble."

When the earth is shaken "out of her place" (as it was during the earthquake that caused the Indian Ocean tsunami), I assure you that the pillars of the earth trembled. All of them.

Saphire4 does not seem very scientific.

Unfortunately, I cannot give you any "proven inaccurate" verses, for I know of none. I see the sun on the 4th day as a problem (not any of the others Saphire4 mentioned), but I cannot prove that it is a problem.

The Bible is a story of fiction, created by the empire of man whome for all purposes fits the "Satan" character most revered by the dynasty of men and the text.

The 1898 version I read had little or no contradictions and had many statements that would be heretic in todays version, if you read an altered version of the text (which also indicated in my version damnation would be the consequence) then you will find no value in it at all.

I no longer have my copy it was mysteriously stolen from my home, and I've looked for that copy all my life only to find a great move to buy out all old copies of the bible began in the early 20th century and many disappeared.

Do NOT lose faith in God, do not use technical aspects of the mythological bible as a means to define the almightly, we are well on our way to damnation by writing our own religion and justifying it to our own standards which are all wrong, the VERY first statement in the bible was that there was a firmament and god divided it into heaven and earth, NOT waters, NOT commanded, NOT completely omitted and the only contradiction that came from that was if we are one within God and/or is God outside of this firmament we now call heaven and earth.

I can't even tell you how low God put Women on the ladder of creation in the original Bible, and the newest version make god dual gendered!, I am sorry saying that is NOT sexist, everything God creates is Holy including the devil, its to what purpose and end that makes something good and evil.

and all the new bibles are truly EVIL.

The early Earth atmosphere was mostly carbon dioxide. The Earth was covered in a thick fog. The sun was just defuse light coming from behind thick cloud cover. The first plant life was algae, then plants, then trees. Plant life breathe in the Carbon dioxide over millions of years breathing out oxygen which in turn clear the atmosphere making the sun and moon visible from the surface. This is science. And before anyone asked how this happens in a day. Thats a day from God perspective. A day on earth is 24 hours, on mars its shorter. A day refers to a time frame without a specific reference. In science this is called time dilation. It's why GPS satellite have programs in them to account for this time difference. Time is relative. That's part of Einstein's theory of relativity. And the interior of the earth has structures in it that do look like giant pillars. Some type of xray tech was used in that discovery. A precept of physics is you can't get something from nothing, but from nothing is where everything came from. Also, all the things that would have to have worked out just right for you and I to be here is astronomical. the odds of it are to great to comprehend. Now of course faith must always be coupled with doubt. Always question, that way when you come back to God your faith is that much stronger. Nothing good is easy or quick. Redemption can not be had without great sacrifice.

There are many things that we can not know for certain, whether accurate or inaccurate. The Bible is the Living, Breathing word of God. Many verses do not make sense to me until I need them. My relationship is about faith. Yes, it takes faith, just like many have in our nations super intelligent Scientists. But knowledge without wisdom is useless. I can not deny what Christ has done for me and my life. It is the only true peace I have ever known and I have lived life in many different extremes. So, we may never understand all of the things that don't make sense here on earth, but it doesn't matter because we will someday and the following basics will get you there living the best life possible.

It's base on which one you read from. Some books that are called the "Holy Bible" were purposely written in such a way to mislead people from Christ. The NIV and the TNIV are just two of them.

Some people try to blow it off and say that they were just "honest mistakes". Speaking about the publishing companies, if that comment is true, consider this: When one considers the computer age that we live in were all one has to do is type in in the correct wording and won't, I sure don't call that a honest mistake.

Zondervan, the major publisher of the NIV and the catholic church have known for years for what I'm about to state: Other than the comment made about the KJB at the www.chick.com website, if "anyone" can prove that the KJB has mistakes or has flaws in it, there is a one million dollar offer to anyone who can prove it. You understood me right, $1,000,000. This statement is not made to be taken as a joke. That said, before you claim you can prove it, consider this: As much as the catholic church has bad mouthed the Bible over hunderds of years and has killed people for writing it, not once have they came fore to take up the offer. Zondervan has bad mouth the King James Bible for years because it out sells their NIV and has all but called the KJB a dog because of it. Wouldn't you think, here's their chance to prove that their book is better than the KJ and yet they won't take the offer up? Click on the websites below and you will see why.

As for the King James Bible:

The Bible, the Scriptures of the Old Testament and the New Testament, preserved for us in the Masoretic text (Old Testament) Textus Receptus (New Testament) and in the King James Bible, is verbally and plenarily inspired of God. It is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and altogether authentic, accurate and authoritative Word of God, therefore the supreme and final authority in all things (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21; Rev. 22:18-19).

A lot of it was. For one thing, the Bible approximates that the world is about 6000 years old give or take. That has been proven wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt using modern radiometric dating techniques.

If you insists that it was proven wrong, you should be the one giving the examples and reasons why. Don't you think?
