My boyfriend (who's also been my best friend for ten years!) is returning home after being away for two years. I really want to surprise him with something memorable he'll never forget for his "homecoming". Is a man's idea of romance the same as a woman's (candlelight, music, flowers, etc.)? Does anyone have any suggestions for a masculine-romantic surprise that'll blow his mind??? Thanks! :-)

I suggest getting a facial and new do, then taking a nice bubble bath and slapping on some fine fresh fragrance. Then slip on some subtly provocative dress and pumps, and have some wine and beer in the fridge. Invite him over, have him watch some UFC or Boxing while you prepare a nice dinner, like steak and potatoes or seafood. Then share a nice meal and provide plenty of compliments to him while ensuring his beer is cold and full. After dinner, turn the tv back on and snuggle up next to him with a bottle of chilled white wine and nibble on his ear lobe or something. If he is a regular guy, he will respond to your advances and recipricate. Take it from there. If not, call me!

He has been away for two years.

Men are very visual ... hence the lingerie comment.

If he has been your best friend for ten years you know him much better than we do.

If he has been in the service ... he will have changed he can't really help that.

Your best bet is to ask him. Not directly. You know how to do it (you are a lady). Guys don't have a clue generally but even my 14 year olds know more about understanding than I do at 39. Women just "know things."

Next time you talk to him. Find out if his interests are the same then go from there.

Good luck.

Depends on the man. Has he been romantic in the past or responded well to your idea of romance? You should know this after 10 years. I say do what you feel is romantic and he should respond favorably, especially if he knows that sex is part of the package. I'm a hardcore romantic myself and I think most men are very romantic but don't like to admit it...at least to other guys anyway.

I do not think that men really care for all that romance stuff, some do and will admit it but others just don't. I think most men if they do that they do it for us. I'd say make the day all about him like take him to his favorite teams game if you can or a concert or anything that you know that he really likes. Maybe not the day he comes home but get it all ready to give to him on the 1st night you are together maybe tie yourself up in a bow with the tickets in an envelope and stick it to you and right after you read this come and get your real present. Sounds corny but men seem to like that stuff. Good luck, I am sure just seeing you will be great for him.

If I was gone for two years and was returning to my girlfriend I'd want ot be greeted by something sweet. If you slave over a stove to make ihm a really nice dinner, maybe even his favorite meal, I'd have no doubt he'd appreciate it. Don't be afraid to be really romantic though, guys love it when his girl where's something hott thats still nice looking (If you get what I'm saying)

no, men's idea of romance is much more sexual than a woman's - trust me! Candlelight , flowers, etc means nothing - think sexy lingerie, wine, etc

when he gets home, ask him what he missed doing the most and go do that. in a more romantic- masculine answer:: does he like sports? dress up in his favorite teams jersey and welcome him home with a big hug and no underwear and take him to the bedroom after making him his favorite meal ;]
