No, it is not good for you because what it does is relaxes your muscles making it harder for you to stretch them. Put quite simply bathing in a hot tub the night before a race 5k or longer will probibly increase your risk for injury. If you must I suggest only for around five minutes. No longer.

Never thought about this situation. But I don't suggest doing anything different before a race, even soaking in a hot tub.

Specifically, though, perhaps a hot tub could result in dehydration that won't help on race day.

i dont know why it is unwise to do it before a race...
but soaking in a hot tub after a long run/race is feels awesome!

This time I`ve got you beat. The gym I go to has a pair of hot tubs where we socialize in glorious luxury. Bathing suits required.

The best thing you can do. Really think about it. You are getting the muscels really warm and weightless in water. Wouldnt you luke to be a nice relaxed muscel in warm water....

bad! hot tubs dehydrate you and do something with ur muscles
