I see a lot of questions and answers on here that seem to be on the Athiest side. So for those of you that don't believe...I just want to know why.
Also, if any of you say "There's no evidence!" there's also no evidence that he doesn't exist...so please, if that's your reason, I also ask that you elaborate.

First, a few seemed a little offended, and I wish say that is not what I intended to do. Being a strong believer myself, I simply do not know why others aren't, and honestly just wanted to know why from their view.
A few asked why I believe there is. There is historical evidence that a man named Jesus once existed. Also, there are cities, that the bible mentions that people said not existy. Then archaeologists found them.
Everything else is just belief.

If there is a god she/he must be pretty ashamed at what she/he has created. If I created something it wouldn't be total mess. God is supposed to be all powerful and this is the best she/he can do? Look at all the suffering children and animals and people, look at the polution, look at all the things that are wrong... ...I know you what you are going to say "it's god's will"....I think it's an atrosity...
but god answers people's prayers right? Who are you kidding? God answers your prayer for a new refrigerator, but god doesn't help suffering babies.
Wow, some god. What I see is that weak and needy people need "a someone" to support them, they need guidance and a friend...a big mommy/daddy, if you will, someone all powerful and all knowing. The religous seek affirmation and they get this by prospecting more and more followers (especially if they are willing to give their wealth) and then they feel secure in their selected path. If it were real, they wouldn't call it faith, they would call it fact.
Then there are all the things that a good christian shouldn't believe in, like science...
What? How insane is that? I mean really...in this day and age?
I will believe in what I see to be fact...what is proven and widely studied...not fairy tales from thousands of years ago...by people who didn't know what was going on, and interpreted life in a way that would make everyone into good little minions, and be so afraid to do wrong, that they would obey the word.
I'm glad you have religion to keep you in line...you need to work harder on the criminals in this country....and the sex offenders and the drug pushers...but wait, they are not the ones with all the money...tithe tithe tithe til it hurts. Make thy churches rich...they help a few, they take from the rest.
That's why I don't believe...it's a joke.

There is very little evidence that Santa Claus does not exist, either, and yet, I'm prepared to guess that you don't believe in Santa.
The evidence that Bran the Blessed, or Loki, or Marduk doesn't exist cannot be found anywhere. Does this mean that I should also believe in these entities?

I know you don't want to hear this, but the reason we don't believe is because there's no evidence. There really isn't much more of an explanation. You can choose to believe, we just don't. It's really that simple. There's no evidence to support either side, so leave people to decide for themselves.
I have my own personal reasons, but the fact that we can never know for sure about God I think leads all atheists to deny religion.

I don't think some people believe, myself included, because i dont think of god as a being. I think I'm god, your god, earth is god. So to warship a being is just not my style. I also believe that churches are unnecessary. I can do from my home as same as church. Its easier for me and many other people to believe in evil than good. Not that society has led me to feel this way, i honestly believe that evil offers more of a real world picture, rather than say, the heavenly ever after...

What is more important to you? To 'believe' in God, or to 'know' God? And what is the difference to you? That's the difference between man made religion and nature based Paganism. Our whole "experience" (and that is the key word) of life IS about 'knowing' Goddess/God by living it. Expereincing the Living Presence, being one with, living in harmony with, and recognizing the two within us. Believe = to accept as true, knowledge given to you by another, without personally experiencing it. Knowing=to personally "experience' first hand, this knowledge. Knowledge becomes personal wisdom through this experiencing of.

You can't prove that something doesn't exist! However, you can prove that something does exist. No one has ever proven to my satisfaction that there must be a supreme power. And yes, it has to do with evidence... but also some common sense. We made all the domestic dogs and cats through selective breeding. Why can't nature do the same through natural selection? Makes sense to me... no God needed.

I don't believe simply because I don't believe. I have no reason to believe in a god. Everything I do, I do because I choose to. Everything that happens to me is a result of my actions, or the actions of another human being. Nothing is "fate" or the "hand of god". If I succeed, it's because I worked hard, not because I prayed for it to happen. Basically, I don't believe in god. And even if there was a god, he wouldn't be worth the worship and praise people give him, and I still wouldn't believe in him.

i tend to believe things that can be substantiated by some sort of plausible evidence not a lot of old rubbish just thrown together to make someone feel bad so they do what you tell them.
there's too much crap in the bible and religion and belief.

There is no evidence that a cosmic teapot is not the master of the universe.
But that doesn't encourage me to believe it's true, in fact as I understand why man invented God, that indicates to me it is probably not true.

So your reasoning is: "My lack of evidence is no worse than your lack of evidence, therefore your argument can't be any better than mine"?
Sigh. Whatever. It's obviously useless to point out that the more we learn about the way things work, the more it appears that no deity is likely or necessary to make things work.
