That must give you an inferiority complex. Or at the very least years of therapy!

Mark 6:3 tells us that Jesus had a large family, at least 4 brothers & two sisters: "Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and his brother James, Joses, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?"

Mar 6:2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
Mar 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
Mar 6:4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

I have been a Christian for 35+ years and didn't realize this. Totally cool!! Thanks for pointing this out!! Gives a whole new perspective to sibling rivalry!!

Jesus CHrist had no literal brothers or sisters. "brothers and sisters" could also mean general family members or friends in those days.

notice..."Isn't this Mary's son...." Jesus was known as Mary's son, not "one of Mary's sons". IN this way, Jesus was the only child of Mary.

The Bible tells us some issues which would be happening interior the final days, so we are able to maintain watch and be waiting for His return. yet Jesus specially reported no guy will understand the day or the hour, yet purely the father. So shop watch, be waiting.

Those were all half brothers and sisters, they were Joseph's children from a previous marriage that left him a widower. Joseph was 90 some years old when he married Mary.

Yeah. Only there wasn't a lot of therapy back in days of the Roman Empire. I would've said "Hey bro. Who's gonna win the chariot race this week?" And then bet the farm! Wahoo!

I couldn't even imagine having the Son of God as my brother but I think they were the luckiest of all to know Jesus so closely.

Actually his foster father Joseph died and he became like a father to them. Probably supporting them by being a carpenter. When the boys got older and could take over he started his ministry.
He was a very compassionate man and I doubt that he ever made them feel inferior. but they allowed him to know what it was like to be a family head without having children of his own.

I've thought of this myself. When you think of Jesus as a child could you image the simple things that he had to do as we human do. To learn to walk and talk. To be potted trained or maybe even spanked. When my children were small I purchased this bible lullaby tape and one of the songs where title, " Jesus was a child like me." It's so simple but yet it over whelms the human senses.

You only THINK the bible says that.

The Blessed Virgin Mary had no other children.

Once a sacred vessel is dedicated to God, it may not be used for any other purpose.
