Sometimes just to switch things up,i will add fresh mushrooms..rotel tomatoes...chopped jalepeno peppers ...& have a variety of beans in one pot (like black, red, kidney, pinto)& yes...you gotta add some cumin..wonderful flavor..but a lil of it goes a long way.

Use a chili block - I think its Johnson's - the pkg is red & yellow & looks like a small tub of butter. They come frozen & you'll probably have to ask your grocery store where they keep them because I always have a hard time finding them.
Just thaw the block, add 1 small can of pinto beans, 1 lb of cooked ground beef w/onions & 1 cup of water.......excellent!!
If you are feeding more than 2 people, may want to double the recipe. I make my own chili & a quick chili, but this one is about my favorite.

Chili is one of those recipes that has infinite variations.
I make sure to use lots and lots of canned tomatoes. (Adding a can or 2 of stewed tomatoes always helps too.)
Never skimp on the cumin powder either. And instead of kidney beans, try buying the "hot chili beans with sauce."
I always get raves on my chili.

I prefer to mix my own chili powder. I use a variety of dried chile's mainly Ancho but always a blend. Try canned black beans . I also like fresh Poblano chile added near the end of cooking,

Log onto http://www.recipezaar.com/ and check out their recipes. I found one there that is easy and is excellent. I add a can of Guinness beer, a steak, cut up into cubes (I BBQ the steak to add that flavor first), Add some sage, cumin brown sugar. You can easily look at some of the recipes and find some good things to add flare to the chile.
Ok, now I'm hungry... When is dinner?
Good Luck!
