Matthew 6:22. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light.

Since Jesus Himself refers to the Single Eye, which is the Third Eye (pineal) which is to be opened through meditation and contemplation of God and Jesus Christ, how can anyone refute this? This is the spiritual eye through which we truly connect with God, Jesus Christ and the universe.

Yes, this is the same Third Eye referred to in Hinduism, Buddhism, and other Eastern religions. Horrors of horrors! Christianity has roots in Eastern religions and mysticism than traditional Christianity wants to believe.

As Christian mystics, this spiritual eye is what we strive to open so we can more fully and directly experience God and His love. I have experienced it, and it's the greatest love I've ever known, I cannot even comprehend it. I wish this love of God on all of you.

God bless.

Genesis 32:29-31
30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, [a] saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared." (Pineal = Light = God)

John 1:9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.

The light of God enlightens every person born (coming into the world), and it is through the Pineal (Peniel - single eye/third eye) that we see this light, and through Jesus Christ, we see the face of God.

Great Question!

There are so many Universal symbols and concepts in scripture that modern Christians don't understand. This is one of many great examples. Others would be passages that confirm reincarnation, the divinity of man, and karma. Its weird that they decline faith in karma especially.

Be patient with them they are adherents to the most common religion in their private worlds and most adopt it to validate themselves not to seek enlightenment. In part I understand them because some of these ideas when explained by experts read like the assembly instructions for a 747. Knowledge is to easy to get now and people have so much to think about already.

The entire point is to awaken and live the experience.

Enlightenment is not an unnatural endeavor, we can all do it.
For modern peoples its like getting a PhD In sex education without trying it ourselves. One good orgasm is worth a lifetime of lectures on the subject.

I ramble....

sorry

Most humans will get a good stoning over this question.

The area above the nose and between the human eyes is known as the "Kursi". This is an area that should be opened only after the heart is opened. This is the seat of "Wisdom" within man. This has been talked of for eons, especially in the east. The west has a difficult time in recognizing this fact.

It takes unshakable faith for this area to be awakened, and is rare among humans.

I hope this helps so that you do not become discouraged in the understanding of "Wisdom".

KJV is the ONLY translation that ended up using the word SINGLE in reference to the eye in this verse. Check this out.

hope you wore your aspestos underwear, 'cause your *really* gonna get it on this one.

to put it rather simply, this understanding, hell being able to appriciate the concept of "christian mystic" is way beyond the grasp of most people around.

Consider this, perhaps Jesus meant to be a role model and teacher, much like the Buddha, and hes no more or less "part of god" than you or I are, simply more aware of that nature.

This is the best question on YA!. And I suppose the christians interpreted the 'Kursi' as 'Christ' and swung with that slant. Pahleese, the NASB? More proof the truth has been 'interpreted' out of the bible. NABS! Anything to prove their right! And being right is much more important than the truth, eh? Blessed Be

I am constantly amazed at how many Christians have never even heard of:
CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER
before!

aka: meditation.

BTW: Good to know that I'm not the only Christian Mystic in the neighborhood!

The NASB which is a literal translation as well as many translations show the verse as follows:
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.

The greek word "haplos" in the KJV also means "good or whole" besides the word "single" so you can see that the more accurate version is the word "good"

sorry pal.....no third eye here

The single eye has nothing to do with meditation or contemplation, it is simply becoming aware of the difference between the thoughts inspired by an unholy spirit from The Holy Spirit. this comes from understanding the difference between good and evil. that is why that passage goes on to say that The Light will cast out the darkness. Darkness means confusion or ignorance, knowing The Spirit of God within us and keeping our focus on Her renders the evil one powerless against us.
