IQ scores are normalized so that 100 is average. If you score above 100, then you outscore more than 50% of the people who took the test. Most IQ tests also give a standard deviation -- which tells us how spread out the scores are. For most IQ tests, it is 15. That means that 2/3 of the people in the world score between 85 and 115. It also means that about 95% score between 70 and 130. About 2.5% score abover 130.

An IQ of 102 is pretty much average.

The score isn't really "above" anything. The British Psychological Society (BPS) scale assumes that IQ scores are normally distributed around a mean of 100 with a standard deviation of 16.

If your IQ test was scored on the BPS scale, then 102 is slightly above average. Specifically, your result means that 54.9% of people who take an IQ test score the same as you, or less.

i've got finished some IQ assessments and had scores from a hundred and one to a hundred and forty+ so i'd say they do no longer seem to be rather solid in keeping with se. besides the shown fact that, the only that gave me a score of a hundred and one replaced into based very lots on seen questions, without word or extensive style ones, mutually as the only giving me a score of a hundred and forty+ replaced into an particularly math-orientated one (nicely I do have a level in maths). what you ought to keep in mind is that there are a number of styles of intelligence - as an occasion language, numerical, emotional, seen, musical - and in simple terms because of the fact a try says you have an IQ of regardless of, it would not prepare to all styles of intelligence.

Take it as this

Below 80 - Dumb
80 - 100 - Average
100 - 120 - Clever
120 - 140 - Extremely Intelligent
140 + - You could outwit Steven Hawkings

OK!!!

Certain people like Einstein hit the 160 mark. And nobody has really ever topped this. Not even Mr. Hawking.

IQ is odd. It is useful but not 100% accurate meaure of intelligence.

Basically its based on an average which is 100.Anything above 100 is considered more intelligent.Anything below 100 means less intelligent!

The I.Q. score isn't "out of" anything - there is theoretically no maximum.

Genius level is anything above 180 and there are a few people who's I.Q. exceeds 200.
