I live in WV and have prescriptions for hydrocodone that are dated for last year 07/06 09/06, can I fill them?

Basically, I have back problem and when the prescriptions were initially written I didn't need them but now the problem has flared up again and I can't get in to see the Dr until next month. Do you think there will be any pharmacists sympathetic to my problem that would fill the scripts? I'm not even sure when narcotic prescriptions expire in my state. Maybe it's a year?

You guys do realize that some states narcotic prescriptions don't expire until a year after they are written. MO is one of them. Thats why I asked specifically about my state law. Answers off the top of your head without any research done because you think you know doesn't help anyone. Keep in mind each state can have different laws.

I live in MO and I had a pharm. tell me that it had to have been written within the year. You could try Medicine Shop if they have one in your city, because they are more "small town" but I am not sure if they will, they are closed on sundays.

Most Narcotic prescriptions will expire in 6 months if not filled. The fact that it is a year old, no I am sorry no pharmacy that wants to keep it's license will fill it. The only way to get more is to go to a doctor and see if he will rewrite it for you. But if you do not really need it most all doctors would say no.

You may get lucky and find a pharmacist sympathetic to your problem, but I believe narcotic prescriptions expire prior to one year. In my state, no prescriptions can be filled after 6 months of the date on the prescription.

I guess it depends on your pharmacist, who's gonna wonder why you're filling a controlled substance nearly a year after it was prescribed.

After 6 months controlled substance prescriptions expire. Call your doctor ASAP. There a few reason they expire. 1-pharmacy and/or doctor could lose their licence. 2nd-idea is the script was written for something you were going through at that time and you were evaluated for it. You need to be reevaluated, go to a ER or Urgent Care, also take the script with you, chances are after they examine you they may give you a supply until you can speak with your doctors office next week.

Absolutely not! There are many people with drug addictions and they have to be very careful about that by following rules and dates from the doctor. You can call your doctor and tell them your situation, maybe they will call the pharmacy and have them fill it. I doubt it with narcotics though. Try taking motrin or some other NSAID to ease the pain. Hope you feel better.

Doctors won't fill prescription that is that are old. The prescription has to be written in the current year, in ordwer to be filled.

No you cannot refill a prescription after a year. You will need to get a new script. Just call the doc on Monday and tell them what you need and they will call it in to the pharmacy for you.

In Massachusetts I can't get my oxycodone prescription after 3 weeks of being written out I believe it is.
