... I use an all tube Fender HotRod Deville ( 2-12's). and a "cry baby" wah., with a Fender Tele. or Strat. I use the amp foot pedal to swap channels between clean and nasty, relying on the amp for natural distortion. I also have a vox, stereo out put, volume pedal (no batteries req.), I can set it to send the guitar signal to my Roland Jazz Chorus, 2-12's, when I want that special Roland chorus sound. The Roland does sound better with a guitar that has double coil pick ups, like my Charvel Jackson.... also, does any one use a signal booster or pre-amp? and how does this effect your sound?

I use a variety of amps and a variety of guitars and a variety of pedals because... well... I'm not normal! And, I am lucky in that I was able to afford more than one amp and one guitar. I tend to favor Gibson Les Paul's, but I also like Tom Anderson guitars, McInturff guitars, Fender Stratocasters, etc. - I like anything that has QUALITY. I also use many different amps, but right now I am favoring a Blankenship Leeds 21, which is a GREAT amplifier that I bought used off of Ebay. I bought an extension cabinet for it, and it is really a sweet piece of machinery. As far as pedals go, I use anything of quality - anything - so the list is really too long to post here, but a sampling includes pedals made by Fulltone, Keeley, Zvex, Matchless, Voodoo Labs, Boss, Seymour Duncan, and Ernie Ball. I am currently in the process of doing a kind of "shootout" to see what I like the best and why, but I'm finding out that what happens is that certain pedals work better with certain amps or certain guitars or both. You should use whatever you like, but I can pass on one tip: be sure to have the chance to crank your amp up for about 20-25 hours (not all at once!) to loosen up new speakers. They will start to sound a little fuller after this. If you are very particular about your sound you will notice a difference in the sound - I did - it sounds better. Be sure to do this when and where it won't upset the neighbors. I wrapped my amp in a blanket to dampen the sound a bit, and it was still loud, but there was nobody else around at the time so I didn't upset anybody. Now I need to do it with my other amps as well, so I'm keeping a sharp eye on when the neighbors aren't home so I can crank it up some more! ;)

p.s. You can do the same thing with an amp by just using it, but it will take longer to break in the speakers this way.

I've got a 01 mexican strat that I basicly took apart, and rebuilt with Fender Texas Special pick ups, new wiring, and pots. I replaced the rosewood neck with an Warmoth quarter-sawn maple neck with jumbo frets, a graphite nut, Planet Waves locking tuners, and I string it with Ernie Ball .011 strings.

My good amp is an 03 or 04 Fender Blues Jr. My pedals (in order from guitar to amp), a Boss Compression/Sustain, two daisy chained Ibanez TS-9 Tubescreamers, and a Boss CE-5 Chorus.

I've got a few other stomp-boxes that I'll use every once in a blue moon.......a Guyatone Fuzz pedal, a Digitech Metal master , a noisey Crybaby wah and some Phase pedal that sucks. But they rarely see the light of day lately.

I'll start with my guitars. I have a 1973 sunburst Fender Stratocaster electric. My acoustic is an Aspen that I put a pickup and a volume and tone control on to make it electric. I got it in the late 70s.
My amp is just a cheap small practice amp. The best I've ever had was a Fender Bandmaster. My dream amps are Marshall, Carvin, Kustom, & Mesa Boogie.
My dream electric guitar, other than the Stratocaster, is a Gibson Les Paul. My dream acoustic guitar is an Ovation Adamas.

I play an epiphone les paul studio with a crate gtd65. On my clean channel i put the volume 1/4 of the way up, with high on a little over 1/4, mid a little less than 3/4, and low a little less than mid. i like to put a tiny slap of delay and a little chorus as well, to make the sound fuller. I use my overdrive channel mainly for a thrash-metal sound.. turning gain 3/4 of the way up with full lows and highs, and no mids. i use high gain for a newer metal sound, mostly for avenged sevenfold-type sound. gain a little more than 1/4, shape at 3/4. i have a footswitch for these channels that is great! i use monster cables, as the sound is transmitted wonderfully and it is also a tough cable. I am hoping to get a crybaby wah pedal, and upgrade my guitar to a gibson, and amp to vox valvetronix amp. that will happen gradually over the next few years.

Fender Twin Reverb.. various pedals.. I rely on chorus. Like the Pat Metheny sound.. not real raunchy with my playing. Pat's a jazz guitarist.. Guys like Robben Ford and Garth Webber have some great settings on their amps.. Look up Garth his rack etc. is available on his website

I use several different guitars, but I use a Line 6 effects board and amp. My son has a strat with a Boss board and a Line 6 amp.

I use a Digitech 2120 pre-amp= which gives me the ultimate flexibility in sound!! Additionally I couldn't go without my Marshall 4/12 cabinet. It's loaded with Celestion speakers and they are pure magic for tone.

much like you, i use a custom Tele. but for amps and affects, i took ther hard way. i built my own amp out of a 50 watt amp head i found in the trash, 2 huge speakers, and lots of wire. i completely rebuilt the amp and now i have the PERFECT tone for chicago blues. My affects in this amp sound much like Hound Dog taylor (early fuzz) and the clean sounds like muddy waters (heavy gain/ reverb). if u end up building your own amp (like me) you can have any tone, sound, or affect to your preferance
