Dear all / women, my girlfriend and I really want to marry each other, this would be our second marriage in both cases, both had long marriages before (20 years) and we were both **** on to put it blunt, but I really want to do it right, she has picked out the ring she likes and I know her size, but its just knowing or finding the right moment to actually pop the question, with out her really knowing what I was going to say, I was going to get the ring put in a fortune cookie, but I was worried the jewels might pop out in the heat....help please.

i would be most fortunate if you would say yes...
then have the ring resting on a swatch of red velvet... of her fave color (so it doesn't knock around in the cookie)
then take her to a reallly nice chinese resturant or sushi resturant and maybe ask there. or give it to her when you get home..
my bf and i love sushi and chinese - i would go gaga if he had the ppl from our fave sushi place make up a plate of sushi and have them place that in the center of the plate and serve it to me.
now that i think of it i am telling a friend that she can suggest that for him for when he gets off his butt and asks me lol

Congrats. :) If you are going to do the over dinner thing..don't do it in a resturant as that is too common to be special. It's like I can't think of anything orginal or put in any thought.
Cook her a romantic dinner at home (or if you can't cook favourite take out dishes) with the table set and romantic music etc or if you want invite your combined families and have a special family dinner and ask her in front of them. More special than asking in front of a bunch of strangers.
If you still want to do it over food but not over dinner..take her on a romantic picnic.
You could take her for a drive to some beautiful setting or a favourite place and ask her. Remember it doesn't have to be fancy it just has to be thoughtful and have some meaning. Best of luck. :)

If you have a lot of money, get a helicopter to advertise your marriage proposal across the sky while you two take a walk to the park. But if your budget is limited, then go to a restaurant and ask the waiter to put your ring on a carrot (like it would be on her finger) if she orders veggies or in the glass of champagne or wine she orders.

if u know when her birthday is,why not arrange to stay home that night, make a special dinner for her( one that u know she likes,and if u can cook),put candles around the room, dim the lights,and make sure u get a dozen roses of her favorite color and put them as the centerpiece...Write a small note on the card telling her how much u love her...Clean the dishes away, bring her a glass of wine from the ktichen, but make sure she is really relaxed... Then get down on one knee and propose with ring in hand... I found this works every time!!! I've been married twice now and it's worked both times...(GOOD LUCK) I know this senario sounds corny but it does work

Here's a corny but sweet way. Take her somewhere beautiful for a walk. Tuck the ring into your sock (carefully!), feign an ankle injury and fall to the ground in pain.
When she acts worried tell her you have a really bad pain and try and get her to take a look. As you help pull your sock down so she can see, produce the ring and tell her she can make the pain stop instantly if she'll agree to marry you.

You could always wait till your Anniversary come's up and take her out to where you guys had your first date and ask her there. You could always wait till her b-day/ christmas then take some rose petals from your room to the living room have a big box that has a smaller and smaller and smaller box in it till she gets to the ring and ask her that way. You could even plan a romantic getaway and ask her. There are sooo many romantic ways. Take her somewheres she NEVER been and ask her. I hope and wish for the best for the 2 of you.

for me the fortune cookie idea would be a no-no (sorry).
however what i think is important is you do it from your heart and make your girlfriend feel loved and special.
do it when you both are at your happiest, plan a day out or weekend away somewhere nice and do it when you are both enjoying yourselves.

Ask her round to yours for lunch. have loads of candles burning, the table set out nicely and a big bunch of roses waiting with a lush red ribbon round them for her, get some champagne in, then tell her how happy she maks you and why you love her, then get down on one knee tell her she's the best thing thats happened to you and that you will protect her and love her for the rest of your life, then ask her if she would do the honours.

Congratulations!!!! and best wishes, and good luck. I to was married for 31 years, then found the love of my life and now have been married for 7 years...
My hubby got down on his knees, on my parents anniversary.... what a wonderful day to do it on..... and said Honey would you marry me??I am tired of everyone asking if she is your live-in or girlfriend- or significant other ...... ahahah what a laugh we got..... and of course I said yes......and cried... make it romantic but have fun with it.......

have you tried looking on the internet about crazy ideas, a stroll in the park, a romantic meal.
If you are 100% sure that she will accept, why don't you arrange the wedding and then suprise her on the day. Kill two birds with one stone.
