you're right, it does make you look bad. You should tell him you're shallow so he can find someone better than you

first of all diabetes is so treatable today. look i met this woman 10 years ago. she had it bad. and doctors gave her a year. guess what she has got it under control and is better than ever. if you feel that way you need to just leave him. things could change for the worse and what then you gonna doubt being with him. look i see it today in my family. my brother in law thought it was going to be easy having a wife who may go blind one day and he thought it was peaches and creams well today he gripes and complains all the time she is not leagally blind and can not do any thing for her self. now she can see some but not far at all and she has to have help when walking so she does not run into stuff. i see he is not here for her and then he tells every one about his wife as if he wants a pitty party. guess what i married her brother knowing of the risks and chances my husband can one day loose nerves in his eyes. i had no second thoughts. if you are leave now so yall don't hurt later. like i said it is a disease we have great medicines for and people live a full life with it. so hopefully you make the right choice. good luck and sorry you feel questionable. hope you feel better knowing what i said. oh one more thing this guy i know was diagnosed with lung disease who was totally healthy and was told he was going to die. this man has pulled through it all. he was even taken off the medicine that was helping and put on something that made it worse. i just heard that he is back on the good stuff and he is doing better.

My boyfriend also has diabetes and has also ask me to marry him .There is no reason he can't have a happy full filling life with diabetes as long as he follows his diet and takes his medication .I have accepted his proposal and i know how you feel. He has health challenges . My boyfriend has loss weight since we started seeing each other. I have researched diabetes and help him plan his diet. It's not very much different from what i normally eat.You have to look at the whole picture before you make a decision. How do you feel about him as a person? Do what you feel what right for you.Know one can make that decision for you.

Ok all these answers are great but, first off if he didnt have diabetes would you already have said yes or would you still be thinking. If you said yes that you would marry him then you already have your answer.

First of all before anything else sort out all of your feelings before letting something like diabetes get in the way. That should hardly make any differance in your decision whether to marry him or not.

Wait, wait.... so now you say you don't love him and will say no to his proposal. If this guy DIDN'T have diabetes, would you have married him? B/c diabetes is manageable... many people live healthy normal lives with diabetes. Can you live with yourself for saying no b/c he has diabetes? You need to ask yourself that question rather than depend on others to decide for you here.

Diabetes is very manageable, usually, isn't it? I wouldn't think that would stop him from living a long and full life... If it more severe than that - I guess you just have to be honest with yourself. If you don't think you can handle it - it's better that you let him know now - then after you're married, and he's depending on you.

You obviously aren't ready if you have to ask this question.
What I don't understand is, what does diabetes have to do with him asking you to marry him?
If it's because of his health problems that you aren't sure if you want to marry him, then you do not love him. So no don't marry him.
What challenge are YOU taking on?
You aren't the one with diabetes, he is.
You don't deserve him, sorry, but YES this does make you look bad :(

it does make you look bad a very self centered! you cant marry someone just because of diabetes! there is not really a challenge, my grandmother has diabetes and she is perfectly fine! as long as you know how to take care of it and take the meds he's fine! but he deserves someone that isnt going to basew a marriage on one problem stupid like that! sorry...

It's not really a challenge. I mean he's lived with it perfectly well so far, so what's the problem exactly?

If you love him enough you'll soon realise that something like that won't really get in the way.
