We work because of salvation. (acts 4:12, ephesians 2:1-10) because Jesus is the one who died so we could have salvation!!

Because of. You cannot work to earn salvation. But we work in appreciation for what Jesus did.

The Bible says something to the effect that we are saved for good works. I'm not sure of the exact wording. We serve God and our fellow man out of love and gratitude for what God has done for us. All the good works we could do could not erase our sin. Only Jesus can.
