when i jump it feels like i thro myself forward. so is it the opposite when running?

What your arms do is they speed up your stride frequency, because your legs are going to go as fast as your arms go, if you pump your arms faster then you will go faster.

When swinging back and pushing forward. It makes your legs push back and thus move forward.

YOur hands only detract from your perfomrance if they do not remain relaxed. They only contribute by providing balance and counter movement to the legs.

Trying to use the arms for propulsion is virtual unreality and would just result in wasted energy. YOur strongest propulsion is from your legs and feet, not the movement of your arms.

On the way back as in swinging, (swing set), and pumping your legs!
