About the time that Christianity became the state religion, it entered into the Great Apostasy. While the religion flourished, the sacred power and authority was lost.

It is not really a paradox. Instead it is a historical account. Thus, the Roman empire was the powerful human government at that point in time which is under the deception of satan and that gov't is called the gov't of the beast of beastly character. The Christian church at that point in time within the territory of the empire, is the spiritual gov't under THE HOLY SPIRIT. Thus, there are two (2) governments. The Roman gov't deceived by satan used the growing Christianity as the force to glue together their crumbling empire by accepting the Christian relgion as the religion of the empire. But the Christian church (churches until today) remained separated as it is under THE HOLY SPIRIT. That is the spiritual view of that relationship.

I may be wrong but the only paradox I can think of is that the Romans that once killed and persecuted Christians and practically outlawed the Christian religion until the 4th Century AD turned completely around and made Christianity the official religion of Rome and rebuilt their empire on Christianity after the 4th Century.

When Paganism was the official religion of the Roman Empire, Christians were tortured and killed. Then the Emperor realized the Christians were generally poor, and the Pagans had all the money. It seemed logical that a way to generate revenue for the Empire was to switch to Christianity and begin persecuting the Pagans and take their money.

It became a factor. maximum of the nutrition grant to Rome got here from north Africa which became colonised via former infantrymen, a lot of whom have been Christian after approximately 350. Disagreements over Christian doctrine had brought about Constantine insisting that the Bible be compiled around 318 so as that each physique Christians may be utilising an analogous e book, yet that did no longer settle issues. In 313 Bishop Donatus Magnus of Carthage became consecrated and promoted doctrines that many different Christians disagreed with, alongside with Augustine of Hippo (additionally in North Africa). Over the subsequent couple of hundred years those disagreements brought about combating and mutual persecution. collectively as the nutrition generating inhabitants have been combating one yet another, they weren't generating nutrition and retaining the irrigation systems the quicker Roman settlers had geared up. Consquently nutrition expenditures rose and nutrition grew to become scarce. finally you purchased nutrition riots in Rome and different cities and falls of government. the placement became made worse via the actuality that the climate could have been getting drier and perchance salt accumulation from the irrigation became affecting productiveness. different than for all that, the Empire became over - prolonged. Tribes from northern Europe have been shifting south and others from western Asia have been shifting west. Then there is a few information that a extra virulent style of malaria reached Italy and southern Europe interior the 600s or in the past. there isn't any single factor in touch.
