By leaving the only thing you are doing is giving up. And I know we as Muslims have much mores strength to deal with such people. Our trials are nothing to what the Prophets had t go through just keep that in mind. Also, why would you want to satisfy the whims of the ignorant? This is exactly what they would have wanted. If you really didn't make a difference.. Do you think those ignorant people would even respond to you, or do stupid things like clone you and such. You make a difference and they know you do, that's why they become so angry and find ways to get rid of you. Just stay sis.. Don't let a bump in the road of life, make you turn heels and go to a different path.
Love to you sis.

If the difference you're talking about is being able to let us know your point of view about your religion, I think you did great all this time. It's good to learn the point of view of a person inside your religion. But, if the difference you want to make is convincing others on converting into your religion, your main enemies are not us, it's your own people:
1. It's easier to catch flies with honey than with a rifle.
2. Actions speak louder than words.
Unless you all learn those two lessons, there will be no words that will ever change our point of view about your religion. I use to read the newspapers from other countries, as long as those news are in English, Portuguese, Spanish and/or French, believe me, my opinion and those of many of us do not depend only on the TV. Many around the world say exactly the same thing about the ways of your religion.
Again, if your goal has been to let all of us know about your point of view, I'm sad to see you go, you should stay. But, if by any reason whatsoever, you were trying to change our minds, it wont happen, unless we see a sincere change in all of you. Take care.

Nope, and I hope i'll never retire - I plan to be here for as long as Answers is!
Some people, yes, are ignorant or rude or cruel, but the fact of the matter is, they are just as valid as me or you - they have every right to be a part of answers, and they function in society well. I consider that it would be ignorant of ME to try to turn away from such people and such viewpoints as if they didn't exist - I try to learn something from them, even if it's just a topic of psychology or sociology, rather than anything to do with the subject matter of the question or answer.
I have also learnt a LOT on here - you can skim through anything that seems offensive to you and just learn the stuff that interests you, reading topics which you enjoy learning about and finding out all manner of new things. Why would I give that up just because i'm scared of or offended by the opinions of a few people?

With the greatest respect:
Dear Lady,
We have not crossed paths as of yet, and if you go, this will be the only time we do.
Yes, Dear Lady, there is mindless fear and hatred a plenty here. Look around and you will see many of us struggling against those who would crush all of us if they could.
They do not just hate Islam. They hate all things that they do not understand and cannot control. They hate all things that hold up a true mirror which reveals their true nature, their true heart.
They hate because they were taught to hate.
And, Dear Lady, they are here to teach their hate to others.
There are, Dear Lady, at this moment 60 people who say you have made a difference in their lives.
When you can post this question and no one says anything, you will know you are making no difference. But it would be foolish to suggest you are making no difference now.
I will neither beg you to stay or to leave. We each must follow wisdom as we see it. But I do hope you see the love and respect others have shown you this day.
Peace be upon you, Dear Lady.

Please don't think you have not made a difference on here: you would be surprised and God knows best. But I know how you feel and I might just join you, am not sure. I also left 360 recently. I may just go back to answering on the health section. Not sure. Someone else got me thinking about this and now I am giving it more thought also.
"Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things." [Quran 24:35]
Salam and God bless.

I've given it some thought a couple of times, but I always end up staying. The reason for that is that every once in awhile, someone comes along who has genuine questions about my faith. They're not out to bash anyone or be rude -- they simply don't understand a point of Catholicism and want answers.
And when they get the answer, they don't argue or insult. . .they just accept it. Those people make this whole thing worthwhile.
, there are some pretty terrific folks here like you, Uncle Wayne, Father K, Zilla, ZeroCool, Kallan, Laptop, and a whole bunch of others. You guys make me smile, make me think, and make me glad to be here.

I feel very sad you feel this way. I have had the same feeling from time to time however I try to help with the Homework section and have gotten some great feed back. I find anything to do with religion or politics gets me in hot water, and I have to agree with you sadly enough, the filth and sarcasm is unbelievable. There is a lot of flippant remarks, but I know deep in my soul if I reach at least one person with practical advice, it does make a difference. The world has become very liberal in its thinking and I am from old school. My adult children still refer to people as Mr. or Mrs. which I am thankful for. Maybe take a week off and come back into the areas where you can really make a difference. We are all trying!

Of course you make a difference! Just look at all the wonderful answers you got already on this question...most are filled with love, and I'm sure some are from people whom you have made an impact on their lives. I have also made the point that people WANT to believe a certain way because they like believing that way; they like hating something, and if someone offers them the truth that may change their mind, they refuse to accept it...I feel your pain, and it can be difficult when people just don't seem to understand, and continue living life thier ignorant ways. It makes me feel weird knowing that, but hopefully they will learn sooner or later. Good luck, sister, please remain with us!

Yes, I retired before I even started. Just seeing the people who were here. And the answers under them, was just disturbing to me. I don't have time for the ignorance and biggotry that is so plain that it can not be ignored. But don't give up. Sometimes we are making a difference and can not even tell it.

From personal observation, this one sees that most of questions asked are one's which the quesitoner already knows the answers, or, at least, knows the answer he or she is seeking.
Many of the respondents are ill informed, biased in their views and show little tolerance towards others and no real desire to learn from the observations of others.
Those person with a particular religions view point tend to adhere to the tenets of the same when evidence is provided demonstrating that such is not an elightened path.
Those who oppose religions often do so with a fury and rage that is the direct counter to the zeal of the religious.
Those who pose thoughtful questions and seem to genuinely seek the input of others often seem to recieve the harshest treatment, esecailly from those whose ignorance and bigotry mimics what they learn from their television set.
May you be well. This one will look for your answers to the questions of others and will be thankful for you input.
Assalaamu 'alikym warahmatuallhi wabaraktu, my sister and my friend.
