Why dont people learn Islam from Scholars rather than CNN?

Because watching t.v. and hearing the answer you want to hear is easier than talking to a scholar and having them disprove their stereotypes and misconceptions.

People seem to trust what ever is pushed at them on television or any other media outlet. Learning Islaam is always a problem for people. If they want to get well from a sickness they will go to see a qualified Doctor but when it comes to Islaam they will listen to anyone irregardless of his\her qualifications on the religion. There are Muslim Scholars who have spent their entire lives studying the religion. Some Muslim Scholars begin studying in Islaam when they are barely a teenager. Without a doubt the Muslim Scholars are the source of knowledge about Islaam after the Quran and Sunnah.

It might be because many people in the West don't know any Muslim people to ask, and talking to a Muslim woman (if you are male) to ask her opinion might seem to be offensive to her.

And most people would assume that a scholar is somewhat biased (just like CNN is biased) and not fully trust what he had to say.

I know! CNN does NOT show the whole truth, just part of it! There are a lot of liberated Arab countries that treat men and women equally. Also it depends which part of country they are talking about. sometimes the north is more liberated than south!

very true i agree with you, some people just believe what they see on t.v, when they say Muslim women are oppressed they believe, when they say Muslims are terrorists they believe, when they say Muslims are forced to marry and have no choice in their relationship they believe.
