i think the pastors should since most only preach for a living but the rest i think it should be volunteer. why should you get paid to do a service for God? especially when you have a full time job anyhow. i dont think its right. you have to get paid to do something for your church. thats ridiculous. my opinion.

Yes the ministers should be paid..
one that wants to lead, teach etc.. when entering the church does so and not for personal gain
example.. If one such as I was to enter, I am in the low very low income bracket, a true minister to Jesus cannot go in for gain, I then would have to get paid on the same scale or less..
This I say for respect of the diff. classes as the middle, higher middle etc.. I believe in the different classes and they have children also, in the end it is not for personal gain..nor material gain for family..
The church's should be taxed if they ran the true church right there would be no taxes, because the money would go back to the people and not the greedy minister's and there cronies..
The money and the buildings belong to the people, and the Church's should never be closed, you do not have too go there just to give money, and vainly hoop and holler or act Pius once a week..
It is what you do towards others 24/7..
This is to much for this, yes they should get paid, not over paid and share the money with other thief's..

Absolutely. If a church grows large enough to need employees they should be paid
As for the Pastor the teacher is worthy of his hire.
There are many churches that only want educated clergy. If these people are going to invest in education why shouldn't they get paid.
I was once assoc pastor of a medium sized church with a part time pastor.
We finally had to beg him to quit his job to work full time. We needed him everyday.
He had never accepted pay before although if a visiting preacher led the sermon there would be a collection for him.
After all he needed food clothing and gas to get to the next appointment on his schedule.
Atheist would like to see every preacher poor so they can say look it doesn't work, but it does so they attack that.
I wonder or you first in the break line and also first in the pay line?
God bless!

Why not? We want a full time minister. A man who comes to the office everyday, visits the elderly and sick on behalf of the church, and represents the church in the community. Of course we would pay him. If we didn't, we'd be obligated to support him, so it's easier to pay him. Can't rely on anyone else. Why would anyone in the community support him if his own church family doesn't. Manna hasn't fallen from Heaven since the Old Testament so I'd guess it's in everyone's interest to pay a minister for his services.

Yes! If a person in the church devotes his life to the church to the extent that they can have no outside job, then the church should be able to provide an income to that person (a "source of living")!
Notice 1 Timothy 5:17-18, "Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” (See Luke 10:7 also.)
This "double honor" refers to respect and an income.
Paul also said that he took wages from one church to minister to another. (2 Corinthians 11:7-8)

It mentions in the bible that the preacher should be paid. He should be doing nothing but the Lord's work. Some churches pay a janitor, my church just takes turns being responsible for the upkeep.

Absolutely.
The Bible says the 'laborer is worthy of his hire' and not to 'muzzle the ox that treadeth the corn' and other verses that suggest that pastors, deacons and other workers should be paid. The workers in the early church were supported as were widows. Yes, indeed they should be paid first.

Of course they should!
"For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward."

In the New Testament it tells us that a priest should serve without script or purse. In my church the Bishop is not paid for his services, my particular bishop teaches public high school to make a living he works 40+ hours a week as this. But in addition he works probably 20 or more hours often more as bishop. clergy should not be paid. the only people in our church that are paid are full time maintenance people, or full time secretaries at regional or world headquarters. It is a sin for clergy to be paid for their service, it is supposed to be a service to God And man.

absolutely not! Tithing is a different thing though. Tithing is supposed to go to the church to help keep it running(not including paying pastors, bishops, priests, teachers, ect...) and help church members who are in need.
