How quickly & efficiently will Norad respond to it?
How much time will pass between when its spotted on radar and when the counter missiles intercept it?
Also, are they prepared to defend against unknown technologies like extremely fast missiles?

Are they thinking ahead?

It depends on where it launched from and whether it's is ballistic (intercontinental or intermediate range) or cruise (surface hugging).

We could have up to 20 minutes warning, or as little as 2.

OK well lets picture the worst case scenario a inter Continental nuclear missile is fired at the U.S from and undetermined country. Almost immediately the U.S Military working in northern Canada in "Alert" would pick it up on radar. The U.S government has set up many defences against a nuclear strike. Let me explain. When a nuke is fired it travels through space then falls back through the atmosphere. There are three stages Space, Outer atmosphere and then the last section is under 150 000 feet. After takeoff "Alert" would immediately notifie the president and his staff which would alert the patriot missiles sites deployed in Europe and north America. they would attempt to destroy the nuke while it was still in space or the outer atmosphere if they fail and the nuke penetrates the 150 000 mark it is almost impossible to shoot down. This would would take place in between 30 and 35 minutes. After a nuclear strike like that the government would retaliate with their own nuclear arsenal.

The American military is the top in the world and its intelligence program is extremely effective. If the Americans discovered a rogue country developing missiles it would most definitely retaliate politically. Think of N.Korea and Iran.

IN the old days, an incoming ICBM hitting the Continental US was about 30 Min's. These missiles pass through space before coming back and have multiple war heads.

Sub launched or, a missile launched closer to the US, depends on where it is fired from and the type. As far was most of us know, we do not have a full missile defense system in place. Our only hope, and that kept the USSR from shooting at us, was MAD ( Mutual Assured Devastation) which means we wipe each other out.

Reagan tried to put Star Wars into being, but Congress in their wisdom, cut funding.

There are no interceptor missiles for Chinese or Russian missiles. An ICBM launch from Russia or China will get through unless they simply fail.

If North Korea launches a missile one of the test missiles MIGHT intercept it. These test misslile have about 20% success in killing a test target.

NORAD's primary job is to issue alerts so people and assets can run for cover.

it really depends were the missile is aimed if its aimed for he east coast it will most likely hit it takes 45 minuets from when the missle is seen on radar to shoot it down (launching prep aiming and collision time) which is really good timing but the thing is there are veerrry few countries who can make a nuclear missle that can travel around the world (our only suspicious countrys) thats 13500 miles without refuling and even at that the missle wont have a very big war head considering it has to travel so far id exspect the biggest explosion possible from such a longranged missle which only russia has the capability of making atm russia america uk i believe are the only 3 who had made 1 succesfully korea has tried but failed to even detonate a nucluear wepon would be about 10 city blocks. really the thret of a nuclear missle hitting america is slim to none

It is hard to imagine everyone being evacuated to safety of time (in case of a nuclear missile being launched at a city, a town or even a small village), which is similar to the situation of any use of nuclear weapons. So the best thing is neither to use this kind of weapons not to aggravate the political situation anywhere, provoking other people to have the feeling that they have nothing to lose and that they have no other choice but use this kind of weapon.

Theres so much stuff that detects it. Satellites will detect it first, and all I can say is yes, im sure NORAD knows about everything other countries have.
Dont worry, a missile attack on the U.S. is not gonna happen.

NORAD will pinpoint the launchsite and retalliation will be swift and sure. Hopefully our missile defense shield will intercept anything we have inbound and divert any major tragic results.

.The only country that is capable of launching a nuke at USA is the USA, now one can be brought in thorough different means, like one bolt at a time, and no nobody is ready to deal with this kind of catastrophe.no body wants to go there, now if this were to ever come to pass, the higher ups would escape scrutiny by finger pointing.

Yes, I can assure you that NORAD has all the latest information that can be obtained. We are protected well in this country. NORAD does not sleep.
