I recently was in Lynwood womens jail in LA County and got a staph infection. I hear that the sheriffs dept is reimbursing medical expences and will pay up to $2000. Does anyone know anything about this?

I was recently taken to the Lynwood Jail for a TRAFFIC TICKET and spent 24 hours there. While there I contracted a staph infection. Staph is running rampant in the jails in LA County and masny people incarcerated there are picking it up due to the implorable conditions there.
I have been told that the Sherrif's dept. is paying former inmates who contract staph after a stay there for medical expences. There is a class action lawsuit as well in regards to this and I am seeking info on that as well.
Just so everyone knows, this could happen to you as well. I work in the refineries, and am hardly a criminal, just didn't pay a traffic ticket 3 years ago...for those of you that might feel that is the "price I pay" for my "criminal activity."
Thanks.

Why should they. They're not the ones paying it, we, the public are. Why are you in there in the first place?

You carry the staphylococcus infection with you to start with, everyone has it. You just get an over active outbreak for a reason no one knows, that goes without saying as to where you got it and how. Most people get it from over sterile areas, the infection goes awry due to no other infections and the staph goes nuts.

Also people that pick their noses, pick at pimples and cold sores, cannot leave their faces alone, are always fingering their faces, are spreading the staph from their noses to their other parts.
I don't think the sheriff is responsible for this.

This is something that would be pretty hard to prove as to how, why and how long you've had it.

It would be too hard to prove where you got the staph infection to try to get money from an organization such as the sheriffs office. And pretty much getting thrown in jail is preventable, so gonna have to think it's your own fault there. Not like being hospitalized.

Staph is a common bacteria that lives on the skin. You probably would have gotten sick anyway. In order to claim money you would have to prove that your incarceration caused the infection and that would be next to impossible.
