You are right , the people of the U.S. seem to blame their problems on everything but the person causing those problems. My guns never seem to go out and do a drive by and kill a little kid at a drug dealers house. My guns stay locked up until hunting season or safe target practice. People kill people , if they can't get a gun they will use a knife,or a baseball bat . Keep preaching the truth brother and I will too.

Am I for banning guns? Absolutely not. No one can argue against the fact that gun violence is a problem in America. Anyone that says gun violence isn’t a problem needs to open their eyes.
I think people call for a ban on firearms because it looks like an obvious solution. If things were simple and life were perfect, banning firearms would cease gun violence, end of story.
However, gun violence is a symptom of a bigger problem in society. People need to take a look why gun violence occurs, rather than thinking banning guns will solve the problem. Why do gangs get into turf wars and kill each other? Why did the “wife” from Oswego, IL supposedly gun down her husband and kids on their way to the water park (if you believe that BS story to begin with…if you are familiar with the story I am referring to)? Why did the 10 year old sneak the pistol from the night stand and accidentally blow her brothers head off? Gun violence is the result of a myriad of problems and until the problems are addressed, gun violence will continue.
Banning guns is the Band-Aid solution. On the surface, it makes sense. You see blood, you put on a Band-Aid to help stop the bleeding and keep the cut clean. However, if the blood is coming from a knife wound to the liver or an artery that was cut in half, a Band-Aid isn’t going to help much. Banning guns isn’t going to help much either.
Guns have been a part of American society since the North American continent was settled by the white people 400+ years ago (Roanoke Island. In 1585 wasn’t it?). Gun violence (or crime in general) wasn’t always a problem. What has changed from then to now?
I don’t have the answers. If I did, partisan politics and corporate lobbies would probably prevent the solution from being implemented anyway.
What would happen if guns were banned? The power would shift to the select few who had the use of deadly instruments of death and destruction. There would be a black market for guns, just like there was for alcohol during prohibition and drugs today. With no guns, there would be fewer hunters in the woods. Fewer hunters would mean a less regulated wildlife population and extensive growth of wildlife populations (which in turn will cause deaths to humans and lifestock through diseases, vehicle collisions, and animal attacks). If for some reason, a country was able to invade us, with the military strung out all over the world, there would be few weapons to arm a militia and mount a defense of the nation. I would suspect violent crime and home burgleries would increase as there would be little fear of the homeowner/victim using deadly force (especially if the criminal has a gun of their own).

My question to your question is. Why do people think that a gun ban will work? Marijuana, cocaine, meth, Ecstasy are all banned and if I were so inclined I could go to several different places in the city I live in a buy it just as fast as soda at the gas station. If we get a gun ban then just like drugs the LAW ABIDING CITIZENS will follow the law. But the criminals won't so what gets solved, I don't have my guns to protect me or my family anymore, some armed thug breaks in I call the cops take one to the chest as I scream for my wife to get our daughter out the window. The cops show up 2 hours later. Will this happen probably not, but it's an example of what could. Look at other countries that have gun bans but be realistic about it. The UK boasts lower crime rates and lower gun related deaths than the US. But the Uk is about the size of one or two of our states. Thats like giving someone a gallon jug with 1 cup of water in it and another person a glass with 1 cup of water in it and the person with the cup says "Hey he has more than me". I have yet to find any numbers showing that in a population of ???? there were ???? gun related deaths.

actually most people don't think about it at all. It is sort of an issue like the exticntion of african bird species or climate change. The average guy here's about it on TV, 'cares' for a bit then flips the channel onto something he is more interested in.
These things only become an issue when a small group of dedicated people petition or pressure the goverment into making policy on it.
For endangered animals it is animals rights groups and scientiests, for the plight of the starving millions in calcutta india, it is humna rights groups and for guns it is the anti-gun/anti hunting crew.
If a very few people can make enough noise the goverment thinks they represent a large portion of the poplulation, and wanting votes, it makes policy changes in law, congress and the media to keep 'all those people' happy.
This is normal democracy. The main point is once again a small a group of fanatics can usxe the system to make enough noise to seem like a very large group of people and get their way.
Sometimes it is good, like saving the elephants or blue whales, sometimes it is not so good for some of us, like banning guns from hunters to solve gangland crime. Which makes no sense.
But it is the same principal at work.
The problems with guns is the gun rights groups don't put as much effort into the battle as the anti gun groups these days.
Which is why there are more laws against us than for us, and more bad news and media as well.
People honestly don't spend much time thinking about guns is the fact. Until a news program comes on about them. Like anything else.

Most people are ignorant when it comes to guns; and because of this they fear them and want to ban them. Most of these people also have never held or fired one before therefore their ignorance is more reinforced. Some of these people believe that banning them will lower crime rates. They are severely mistaken. All that would do is make crimes with other weapons rise, as well as open up a big black market. Just look at England. They are having major problems keeping guns out of criminals because of the black market and also having more crimes committed with knives. Now they even want to ban knives! As if that will help. People need to realize that this is not a gun issue, knife issue, etc. It is a social issue that they have to address that has nothing to do with guns. Guns are only the effect of the cause which can be anything from low education, being poor, etc..addressing these problems will solve 80 percent of crimes committed.

ever heard of Islamic Exteremist? Terorist? Gangbanger's? Yes I agree the bans are getting a bit radical but we have more rights on gun ownership than any other country in the world. Its funny to me though I get more harasment at Walmart in Oklahoma for wanting to buy a shotgun than being in LA and wanting to buy a 9mm. They are punishing the wrong people

Here we go again, another can of worms.
The bottom line is we all know (I hope) that criminals that commit crimes with a firearm is never punished to the full extent of the law and that is why our great country has more repeat offenders then any other country.
You commit a crime with a firearm and is found guilty...cut off there hand...it is that simple.

Most people believe that a gun ban will lessen our crime, but I believe that criminals will just find a different way to get their kicks. Plus it would take away from dad's like me that live near major city's and have gun's for their families protection.

The Government may want to make sure the citizens have no viable means of protecting themselves, and their loved ones or property in the event the Government could become a dictatorship or worse, and call for Marshal law*.....
