Can anyone lead me to a good site on english accents? I want to be able to have a convincing accent. Also, does anyone know a few of the more popular types of English accents?

Have at it!: http://accent.gmu.edu/browse_language.php?function=find&language=english

It lists all accents for all native speakers of English. You'll have to search a wee bit if you're looking for a particular country (such as Great Britain).

I am originally from the East-end of London. The East end 'Banter' has been emulated in so many films and television programmes, (my fair Lady..for example).
Irish, southern, (soft, warm tones, (Liam Neison), or Northern, (hard and Piercing, (Ian Paisley) are quite popular too.
Cornish and devonish, (ooo, arr!, jus loike a Farmer!), and the Welsh, (look you Boyo, isn't it!..(Tom Jones)).
They are all fascinating dialects and relative easy to learn.
