In california, why people go to supermarket to buy drinking water, like arrowhead, evian? They could buy a water filtration at home, like, brita, and then drink the water filtered from it. Thanks!

Is it possible that the water with brand is much safer than the one from from brita? Thanks!

Read Aesop's Fables. The Emperor's New Clothes. This fable pretty much sums it up.
As to all the comments about chlorine, you all need to understand that it is there to kill disease causing organisms. The addition of chlorine to public drinking water was the single biggest advancement in public health in the 20th century. Typhoid, dysentery, and chlolera were all very common diseases from infected drinking water. Using chlorine as a disinfectant has increased public health. A person can test for the presence of chlorine and know the water has been disinfected. Other disinfection methods such as UV and Ozone require a time consuming lab test and retain no disinfection properties as the water is distributed down the pipelines.
A end use filter such as mentioned is the best way to go if the tap water in your area has taste and odor issues. Reverse osmosis units aren't really that good (especially the older ones) as they can create a backflow situation thus making your drinking water unsafe.

The best thing to do is buy a filtering system for home (which is what I do). However some people are always on the go and want bottles of water to be easy to grab on the way out the door. I know someone who keeps a case of bottled water in her car because she practically lives there.

Then there are people who are just PICKY about their water and only drink Evian or something. That's a bit ridiculous but if they don't care about the money I guess it's not a big deal. At least they're drinking water (since 90% of people are dehydrated and don't know it), and at least they're not filling their bodies with the chlorine and chemicals in tap.

Some people think it's better for them. Some people buy it for the status name.I know 2 different people that have well water piped into their homes(no municipal water system is available),and the minerals in their water make it impossible to enjoy drinking. They both filter their water for cleaning, showering, laundry, but buy water for cooking and drinking.

Good question. People all over the country are doing this every day. They gladly pay pay a dollar or more for a few ounces of water yet complain about three dollar gas. Go figure.

The water lasts forever, the date is actually for the bottle. The plastic they make them from will eventually start to degrade and that’s the reason it has an expiry on it.

I have always thought it was a waste of money also, but it is their choice to buy what ever they want.
