I picked the apartment for the beautiful yard and porch. The paneling is floor to ceiling brown faux wood discusting. I love eastern home design and looked into fabric walls but it is just to time consuming and $$$. What can I do?

What color is floor? what kind of furniture? Is paneling light, medium,or dark brown?
I would add red and gold for an Eastern look.
1] Get some bamboo door curtains for windows,
2] asian chest for side tables and
3] trunk for coffee table,
4] sake set or tea set, and
5] Asian art work and gold framed mirror.
6] add jade and luck plants

I'm with you, I do not like brown panelling.
Go to places such as Home Depot, Lowes, and lumber yards, and look at their panels that are already covered. You can make false walls in front of the brown panelling. Or have one of their employees do it for you.
OR you can buy inexpensive BIG pictures to hang on the brown panelling. You might even want to get pictures to change with the seasons and holidays. That is what we do and it sure makes a difference. You can go over to hobby shops to look through their pictures. You can also have them inexpensively framed at the hobby shops.
OR look in on folding screens.

I would get some large wooden curtain rods and some flat sheets in a color that you like then make essentially curtains out of the sheets cause they are cheep at walmart you could even put some different colors all together, cut them up and make colored panels, just get creative and then panel your walls with these...Then when you move you just get the brown colored dap to fill in the holes where you put up the curtain rods....

You can dye or paint your sheets (go to the Salvation Army store for sheets) any color you want then tack or Velcro them up.

Use sheets instead of expensive fabric. Velcro tape - voile.

go to the home depot, they will help. choose some paint tht would look good in the room.
