Something unseen being deities, god, gods, wicca, etc...

IMHO, it is much harder to believe in things unseen than to not believe at all.

Most people think that their own opinions are the only ones that count, Christians and religious folk included. It has to do with our egos.

Every person is different and some are more open to accepting what other people believe. I have/do know some Atheists that do not have a problem with what other people believe and they feel that what they believe works for them although they know that it may not work for everyone. On the other hand though I have known some Atheists who hate anyone who believes in a higher being and completely dismisses their opinion as foolish and incorrect. Although that is not just found in Atheism, there are many Christian, Muslims, Jews, Wiccians etc. that feel that what they believe is right and everyone else is wrong. I don't know if that is what you were looking for but I hope that helped a little.

Well, you're kind of right, but kind of wrong. Most atheists don't believe it is impossible or illogical to believe in the unseen(aka, some scientific theories, atomic composition, black holes); they believe however that it is foolish to believe in the mythological or mysterious unseen.

Believing in an imaginary God takes absolutely no effort- all it takes is blind certainty for the simplest answers to all of our surroundings. Believing there is NOT a divine creator, however, requires MUCH effort to organize and determine how things have come to be the way they are without the easy answer of "God did it."

It's not an atheistic thing. I value opinions that are supported by evidence. Since there is no evidence of unseen entities, I find the claims that they exist to be ridiculous.

It's not "hard" to believe in things unseen. It's called suspension of disbelief, and people do it all the time when they go to the movies.

It is, however, hard to exist in a world where 90% of the population looks down on you for demanding evidence for their mass delusions.

I don't see either belief or skepticism as being inherently better than the other. My opinions are formed from the ways I view the world, what I have learned, and what I imagine to be ideal. Others have very different perspectives, but their opinions are just as valid to them as mine are to me. Yes, it is difficult to believe in things unseen. I choose not to believe in invisible, incorporeal beings based on the testimonies of others. For me, it's dishonest to say I believe when I don't.

Atheist really do have faith you know....they have faith that there is no God...it takes a lot of faith to go outside and look around you at this wonderful, complex world and think it just sprung up by random chance....to think that is just not using the intelligence God gave you.

I wonder what they call it, when they marry someone. Aren't they stepping out on faith, that, that person will love them and stay with them..

Science does not have an answer for the very first living thing....until they can create life from nothing, they have no evidence to support their claims of no God...there are a lot of things in this life, that we take on faith.

The biggest realities of this world are mostly, unseen. What is not seen is more difficult to believe in. Seeing first and believing after that, is an easy job. Believing first and expecting seeing it one day is a hard job, and not everyone's job.

It's not a matter of opinion. It's a matter of facts. All religions are have basis regardless of facts. It's hard to respect some one who blindly believes something that can be disproved. I'm agnostic so I know that a god or gods can't be disproved. But many religions can be because there basis are false.

Belief is easy - little children believe in their imaginary friends without any education or evidence at all.

Proof, evidence, logic, and reason take study and work, and, yes, a higher level of mental function than belief.

So, yes, I consider a lack of belief as more worthy than simply following the words of delusional people, or making up your own delusions.

Spirituality can take different shapes, it doesn't have to be believe in God, one can also value love, understanding, tolerance, mutual respect etc. and refuese to give up on these values even though the world seems to be driven by opposite forces.
